Civic 7th gen 2005 best engine swap

I bought a honda civic 7th gen recently and i had to redo the head gasket of the car as the engine was overheating and creating alot of pressure in the system and i found out my car had a d15y6 non vtec engine as the old owner changed it from a vti model. I am not a fan of the engine as im pulling it apart can anyone who has experienced and expertise about this engine and what should i swap it with and how much will it cost me. Should i change the whole engine or changing the assembly change the power output. I am kinda old so i am looking for a reliable machine as i travel alot so i dont want to turbo any engine just looking for a good screaming vtec machine . Let me know about the price of the mods and i live in Islamabad and i can do the swap in Islamabad, Rawalpindi or peshawer. Thanks in advance.

first look that if the previous owner swapped the electronics with the engine or he also just swapped the assembly, if electronics were still stock then you can bring it back to oem specs by installing oem engine.

Thank you Hassan i will do that. Meanwhile i have some pictures of the open head. Btw the wiring is not in the best condition i would like to change it. And the whole block is chamged as the engine number starts with d15y6

I'd suggest going for a D16W9 which originally came in 1.6 VTi, will be easily available, no need for alterations, simple and easy to swap and decent power and fuel economy if mated to a manual gearbox.

stay with D series. will cost 100~120k with transmission or maybe little more.

Should i go for d16 or d17? And ismay bhi agay serial number hotay hain do you know which is the best ? Cause im not very knowledgeable in this area.Is 150k to 200k enough for the whole swap

yes that should be enough
as a member mentioned above go for d16w9, it originally came in this car.
you can rebuild this motor if you want.

Figure out if only assembly was swapped by previous owner or complete swap? Check the ecu

If you are going for a swap again, go for D17A

can be done in your budget i.e 200k bracket. parts are available.
you have to find a clean d16w9. swap it in. if your car still got stock ecu then it will me more in your favor otherwise you have to get ecu and complete wiring as well.

Search for an engine in market i.e sultan ka khoo in pindi or some place in ISB, should be relatively easy to source, engines have gotten expensive, expect atleast around 130k for the complete job, take a trusted mechanic, do compression test to check health and any other nessacry thing to do before finalizing the deal and be very careful. Haven't done any Honda engine swaps myself but as @Hassan1991 suggested, change ecu for the appropriate motor and wiring as well. Should be an easy job InShaAllah. I would suggest mating a manual gearbox but do as you wish. Hope it helps!

The d16w9 is a good decent motor. But the jdm d17a is the best motor. The manual transmission will stay the same.
