I have a 1988 Accord, its stock clearance is 6.3 inch, your Civic must be around 150mm (5.9 inches ).
Its more then enough, 13 inch tyres are standard on 1988 Civic, Check on below your driver side door for absolute specs, use good quality tyres like Dunlop , Continental, Yokohama. Bridgestone , Pirelli, Michelin or Goodyear, Kumho etc, even slightly used ones are lot better then new General and have correct size according to international standards.
I suggest you keep your tires properly inflated all the time. The psi rating written on tyre, also Check the condition of shocks and suspension. Genuine springs/Shocks may cost you more upfront but they are very beneficial in future and a very good investment for you Car's handling and ride quality.Never apply diesel or oil to suspension, it destroys the suspension in no time.
Check the silencer is properly fitted with the body to avoid contact on speedbrakers.
Use a small and light good quality Cng Cylinder like Faber or INFLEX 40Kg or 50Kg water capacity.
Always try to travel light with no extra load in car or luggage.
and Lastly PLEASE DO NOT use or convert Genuine Suspensions with Spacers or aftermarket high mounted shocks to increase ride Height as they will ruin the Steering/Handling/Braking Adversely and are not reliable at all in long term.
Kind regards
