My brother brought a civic last year , faced gear problem, had to wait 2 months for the warrenty part to be replaced and after replacement , sold the civic in one weeks time and bought altis 1.6.
I have some back disk problem and still after checking out detail about the CVT, I purchased BRV manual. Sure it is a problem shifting gears specially in traffic but once or twice a year I visit hunza , kalam etc and I need all the 118 hp of the car for climbing power. Had I purchased the cvt model, i would have been dealing with a car with 18% less horsepower because that is what cvt uses up.
however I am looking for an automatic 7 seater with good 3rd row seating with engine at least 1.8. And by automatic I mean automatic and not cvt.
There is another detail I would like to tell you and I would also like your comments on it.
"A shop owner (big shop) in Lahore had purchased brv S (cvt) . He went with 5 guys to Khunjarab. on his return while climbing Babusar top from Chilas side, he told me that his gear box become free. It was not working at all.
He stopped his car at the road side and opened up bonnet etc and gave the car rest for 30-40 minutes. And after that the car became fine, I mean the gear started working ."
As I don't have any experience of CVT, could anyone explain to me what happened here with my friend ? He however on his return to Lahore sold off his brv
