@6037550, u wana bet on that? Accord SiR, CL7, CL9 All came with a triptonic tranny... Do some research before posting. BMW introduced triptonic tranny in their 3 series even b4 that.

well i have checked both at motorway and find altis do overtaking better than my civic 08.this is personal experience .
many cars of the world are comin with 4 speed at :sx4,swift,camry,corolla,vitz,passo,old prado and many other.
Well 5 speed AT does more shifting in city compare to 4 speed AT and will have consume more fuel in city than 4speed AT.On highways 5speed AT have better fuel economies than 4speed but only a little difference.

ill personally suggest you to go for Altis ONLY because you have one civic at your disposal.

But as some ignorant members here who know nothing talk about experience, i want to tell them something.

Here iam inserting a picture of Civic 1.8 at 120 and please see the RPM, its 2350 at 5th gear as opposed by Alits which cruises on 3000-3500rpm in 4th gear on 120

Firstly, Honda introuduced PADDLE SHIFT in 2.0L Civic in 2006 which is even MORE fun then some (+) (-) signs drawn with the gear. But thinking practically, i dont even understand why one even needs a cruisetronic when he is buying an automatic car for the sake of traffic congestion these days. I dont find the point of it.

Secondly, Yes civic has built in cruise control. But the points go to corolla for that.

Thirdly, This random member (6037550) with some phone number written on has no idea what he is talking about. He just read the word "longer GEAR RATIOS" somewhere on the forum and is now argueing upon it for the sake of increasing his posts.

Why didnt u mentioned NEW C200, Mazda 6, 318/320i which have 5 and 6 speed automatic gear boxes? Are they stupid enough to give so called "EXTRA GEARS"???
And do u have any justification why BMW 760Li has 8 Gears in its automatic trannny? Isnt that a whole basket of extra gears? Seriously dude you need to get a life.

if ideal cruising RPM is 2.5k
a 4 Gear Tranny culd cycle from 1.5k-5kRPM
in same condition a 5 Gear Tranny will keep it under 4kRPM which is much closer to the ideal 2.5k
an 8 Gear Tranny can quite possibly keep it from 2k - 3kRPM at all speeds

True. Even i used to curse Honda for giving 4 gears in Eagle Eye Vti pros. It demands 5 gears aswell.

he is wrong with that too, at lower RPMs, the tranny will HAVE to shift down cuz with longer gear ratios, the engine wont have enough torque to accelerate so itll have to shift down. try it, cruising at 80 km/h n then slowing down to 20 n then accelerating again... the car will shift down to 2nd!

Sir its to cut the costs, Corolla has a 5 speeder but it is only available at upspec models.

The European Civics even have a 6 speeder manual pulling a much smaller and lighter car with same 1.8L engine, very much in contrast to Corolla.

Corolla is a cost accountants or a businessmen dream in contrast to Civic which is a dream of every poor teeanager boy or a driver.

Toyota has much more advanced know how and engineering team they just do not give it to public if there is not enough profit.

If my memory is serving me right Toyota has a 5 speeder A/T in 1994 (second only to Nissan in Japanese manufacturers), 6 speeder in 2003 and a 8 speeder (World's first) in 2005.

Lexus was also using the worlds best V8 1UR-FSE with dual direct injection, dual V-VTI, variable intake manifolds, 11:8:1 CR, electronic variable valve control which was second only to Audi's V8 in the world.

Also introduced the brake by wire technology.

The only problem in buying civic as this model is in the market since 2006 and 4 years old and will be change in next year or 2 max, however its 100 times better then corrola. Hold your purchase for a year.

altis manual can be about 3200rpm bcoz gli do 3600 with cng on 120

its not factory its a aftermarket dvd system available in market for less than what altas are demanding for that chinese thing.which we can get from market with nav for50 k without nav for 25k.
altis has immobilizer.
