Hello folks,
I own a 2012 Civic manual FD (reborn for the masses), bought in April 2022. Mileage when bought was 63,000 kms which I believe is reversed, actual mileage seems to be around 120K to 150K based on the interior and mechanical wear and tear.
It has served me well, returns 10kmpl with ac in city. Engine and powertrain is pretty good and work meticulous, compression is 200+ on dry, pulls hard and no smoke or oil consumption. It’s a good car mechanically, have spent a lot to make it look better, mostly cosmetic changes and suspension. The reason I spent more than 1 lakh on suspension is it never rode well. After replacing all struts with new, new bushes, etc, it rode a lot better, but there are a couple of problems that I’m unable to fix. Here they are:
1- Steering:
-The steering feels weird. It has the perfect weight, but after changing direction when the steering comes back, it wobbles a little.
-It has a lot of bump steer that I hate.
-Feel even the tiniest of road imperfections at the steering wheel, which makes it feel like I'm riding on steel wheels and not tires. The steering feels "rough" if that makes sense.
-The car swerves to the left if driving in a straight line and I leave the wheel. Have done multiple alignments, they all say it’s an in-built fault which I refuse to accept.
-Steering wheel is always skewed to the right when driving, and I have to hold on to it to drive straight. If I leave the wheel, the car starts drifting to the left pretty sharply.
2- Interior creaks bad. The car, although has a neat interior, it creaks and groans on even the slightest of road imperfections and feels like driving an old 74 Corolla. Some main culprits areas are rear parcel shelf/trunk area, creaks from inside the door cards, from under the dashboard, from the seats, and from the armrest (that is the worst).
For reference, my tires are BG Luxo 215/55-16 with a manufacturing of mid 2022, tread depth is good at 7-8.5mm all round.
I live in Karachi, and I need someone to point me in the right direction to get these things sorted.
Need trouble shooting for the steering problem, and need an interior guy who can quieten the interior down, tighten whatever is loose and restores the interior with OEM clips if that is required.
Thanks
