Civic X (2018) Jerks at low speeds

1. Simple drain and refill.
2. Open chamber get the filter clean/replace and then refill oil.

Option 1 is good enough if you regular change the CVT fluid i.e. 2 years or 40,000 km which ever comes first.
In your case option 2 is better since the CVTF was never changed. Few other options are

• Change the fluid 3 times without opening the sump after every 1000 km. This will completely flush the transmission
• Flush the transmission fluid from cooler lines

The above two options don't required opening of transmission fluid pan/sump/chamber. Remember that the filter you find in the fluid pan is actually a strainer, not a filter. The transmission filter is behind the fluid cooler. Make sure you change that since CVTF is not changed for long time in your case. Don't try to clean it, just change it. The strainer could be cleaned and reused.

Another confusing part is that one service centre told if you go for option 2 by opening chamber then you have to buy two packs of CVT oil and it will take around 6 liters, whereas in option 1 of oil change only one bottle is required.

If you open the chamber, you will definitely require more than 1 pack. 2 packs are required exactly. The exact amount of fluid required depends on how long you leave the fluid pan open. The quantity for 20 min is 5.8 liters. Honda recommends not to leave the pan open for long durations.

Honestly the exact amount doesn't matter because I hope they will check fluid level from level check plug.

None them have suggest CVT calibration, after oil change.

Can you check whether the issue only happens in D gear or also happens in S. The jerk/jolt at low speeds and low acceleration/shudder happens only in D gear not in S

Happens in both and it's not a jerk/jolt anymore. Jerk is gone after getting the mount changed. I just feel a slight surge 4/10 times at low speeds. I think it's normal and that's how CVT works.

In honda, TCM reset is a complex task and you'd have to to do the learning procedures again after reset. And Honda didn't clarify anything in their service/repair manual regarding learning after TCM reset.

This is new for me. As far as I understood, relearning was required for old CVTs like the one used in dadu (frog) City.
Can you share any reference where I can check this procedure? I would like to look into it

Hey guys, I got the CVT fixed from a mechanic in Lahore. It works like a charm now. The mechanic reset the electronic/chip and he replaced a small part(rotation gear). The mechanic was recommended by Honda Thokar and his specializes in gears. He has two workshops one for auto gear and one for manual.

I have recently purchased Civic 2019, went to Honda Township for CVT fluid change today. Initially everything was ok but after driving for like 8-10 Kms, started feeling jerks at low speed (between 20-30 Km/hour), RPMs do not drop just the jerk.
Have already changed plugs and throttle body cleaning over the weekend.
Any idea what it can be? Anything to do with fuel quality or is it normal to have this jerk in CVT?

It was cleaned and reset also done. By the way, haven't scanned after the CVT refill.

CVT fluid change job not done correctly. Take it back to the dealership and ask them to do it according to the OEM specs

I would say get your coil pack and spark plugs checked.
I drive a Corolla, but also experienced the same issue as you. The car vibrated like yours and the rpm would drop when coming to a halt. Turned out, one of the coil packs were cracked and spark plugs needed changing.
After this the issue got resolved.

i always reset pcm/tcm using HDS when car temp is above 82c. after that i start the car and let it idle for ten minutes. during this time you can see idle learning in datalist of hds. after 10min learning completed shows in datalist of hds. switch of the car .

Dear Pakwheelers
Bought 2019 civic few months back. When ac compressor is on i feel little load on engine so on heavy traffic when compressor keeps turning on and off periodically it feels little frustrating due to load adding and releasing.

I asked on some blogs and got mixed feedback. Some says it happens to them and some says it shouldn't

Some pakwheeler said that civic have variable speed compressor so it doesnt turn on or off like other normal compressors so it must be after market installed
Could this be reason?

Check what kind of compressor is there, the factory one doesnt do the trip and release, its a constant running unit.

@Xulfiqar talked to Honda 3s. their AC guy said 1.8 oriel have compressor which trips, and 1.5 turbo have constant running variable speed Ac compressor.
now i am more confused i dont even trust 3s now a days .
by the way did you mean 1.8 or 1.5 or in both ?
