Civic x engine too hot under the hood

Dear Users,

I have a civic x 1.8 oriel 2018 model done 11k mileage. I am using honda 0w-20 oil but I usually observe car engine really heats up under the hood and the temperature gauge shows all normal although my routine trips are very short hardly 14 km a day. It really feels annoying to open the car bonnet after the car has done a few km. Kindly suggest if I am using the correct oil grade or there might be some other issue or is it normal.

Ita normal in civic x. For 1.8 5w-30 is recommended although 0w-20 also works fine .

If you have installed fendor insulator inside, then remove it.

How did you come to conclusion that your engine is running hotter than normal?

Are you feeling it against your skin after opening bonnet?

Is this your first ever car? First ever in your family too?

whats recommended on the civic company manual ? 5w 30 ?

Honda recommends 0W20 for Civic and also for City.

just went through the new honda parts app
5w 30 is first pick choice for city or 1.8 civic
only for Turbo the only choice listed is 0w 20

Engine temp is close to boiling point of water, Is a boiling water hot? Is the pot in which the water boils hot too?

Honda have been filling 5w20 since decades and have now started to fill with 0w20

Their engines love the stuff

yup I do feel it hotter than other cars as it is really difficult to put the bonnet on the rod even the bonnet rod gets hot too.

I previously kept Toyota cars never found such a thing in any of them.

I cannot quite believe that - because toyota engines also operate close to 98C consistenly.

btw - human skin and sensory nerves are not calibrated to "sense" such high heat - use instrumentation to find out what the temperature is.

You may be confusing the fan blasting hot air around on a stopped car heating up body parts - which is normal.

Never open. Radiator cap
Use coolant only.
The only new cars I saw damaged due to heat up
Had a story like
"Ji driver opened up radiator cap to take a peek.forgot to put it back n kept driving"
Is Kay ilawa even Suzuki ka tin daba won't heat up if brand new till 1 lac km atleast

Corolla engine bays and hoods not hot? Unbelievable.
There's a thing called NOT (Normal Operating Temperature). Around 98-105 Degrees is normal for these engines

well that escalated quickly, i guess not everyone is as enthusiastic about cars and i know of someone who owns really expensive cars (audi, altis, land cruiser prado, revo) but refuse to even change the air filter themselves let alone check coolant levels

Its not about enthusiasm

The owner manual also tells to check the overflow tank only and not open cap unless anomaly is noted in expansion tank.

Popping off radiator cap is a “keera” as mentioned by hash.
