Civic X Traction Loss

I was driving on Lahore Multan motorway at around 140 km/ph in slight rain. When the car car passed a cuddle of water the car slipped and for a second it went out of my hands but as I was holding the steering firmly the next second I got full control. In spite of traction working it got slipped and I wonder results could be worsed if a second more I couldn’t get control over it.

Indeed result could have been worse. There's a reason speed limit is 120 kmph on the motorway, which should be adhered especially in rainy conditions. It isn't a car issue, but the speed, weather and tyres on your vehicle.

Well, the road was wet and you were driving in 140 kph, even with traction control it was inevitable for it not slip. It could have been much worse, I'm glad that you're okay.

That is why they tell you to drive even slower than 120 in rain. And there are boards all over motorway telling "slippery in rain".

What you experienced was hydroplaning (look it up). Your Civic is definitely not designed to cross puddles of water at 140 km/h in the rain.

We all learn with our experiences. I had the same experience in corolla some 14 years back and after that i always drive carefully during rain on motorway. I try to drive slow instead of pushing it to limits

Hydroplaning happens when your tires encounter more water than they can scatter, so they lose contact with the road and skid along the water's surface. The water pressure in front of the tire forces a layer of water underneath the tire, reducing friction and causing the driver to lose control of the car.

But the Honda civic club on PW says its better than konigsegg in acceleration and grips harder than a ferrari laferrari.

but Thank God the "cuddling" stopped and you got the control back

Hydroplaning is more pronounced on motorways as you can't judge the accumulated water .

Better to reduce speed and be alert during rain

That happens around the world. Adrenaline junkies should drive at max 100km/h on motorways when it rains.

@alihamid_14 brother you were driving an economy family sedan, Civic. It's not meant to travel at 140km/hr under dry conditions, and you were driving it at 140 in RAIN.

It isn't a sports car. Our awaam likes to stretch it to above the road speed limits, that's a different story.

Second, if it skid for an extended period and not just a slight hiccup, the MOST important thing you have to do next is get your tires checked.

What's the tire tread depth?

I'm surprised nobody has asked you to do this yet. Traction control will do nothing if your tires are worn out.

So, make sure they have a good tread depth and if not, get them replaced.
