baking Soda will not clean anything in there and adding a slurry of it might oxidize the aluminium parts of the engine which will act as an insulation, you first need a citric acid flush then the soda treatment to neutralize the acid. No other way round it.
If your cooling system is heavily rusted corroded and silted then an acid treatment can mean that you will have all sorts of leaks springing up after the clean up - its good and bad at the same time.
good is that you are fixing leaks that could cause catastrophic failure while driving
bad is that you spend mucho money fixing the leaks.
