It was a very clean piece to begin with and just a little love was required like new front and rear tyres

GS500 is custom paid u hardly found NCP.... For the price concern..All Depend upon model...Condition... Estimated cost for Clean & Sound GS having all***** five stars cost you more then 300k..

Well as GS is concern it is most reliable & toughest bike in SUZUKI history. Parts are locally available & every 4 stoke mechanic can do little checkup no big deed even u can also.. Fuel consumption is very good in 500 Series...Good for long & short tours...Bur not for Mud & Gravel tracks....

For model in 200k u can get 1992 to 2003 but condition matters... Sealed engine with full power cost u more then rebuilt engine... Then Important parts come in line...Like SHOKES, TYERS, BREAKS,CORROBORATOR, etc..

I was reading the maintenance schedule of gs500e and found that the valve clearance has to be checked (and adjusted if required) every 5000 km or so. Are the mechanics here aware of this and do they check it when they do tuning of this bike? And to adjust the clearance, you need a small chip called "shim" of required size. Are shims easily available from spare-part stores here.

Well Bro A good mechanic always have SHIM ..I remember when i go for tuning my Honda 92 Cd70 In case he want to check gap between valve he use SHIM ...having different in diameter... But for GS is concern if it was well tuned then no need to do it again & again...As for the oil is concern It is same like a car...a good oil will give u better millage if u use poor quality or SASTA oil it u will have to change it quickly...

the guy who to change oil at 1000km max, recommended this for caltex havoline. Which is probably among the best oils available in pakistan. as far as car is concerned, I always use good quality fully synthetic 5w40 oil and use it for round ten thousand km with genuine filters. (my car's engine is like new even after 11 years, Alhadmolillah).

but in case of bike, the engine runs at higher rpms, so I can imagine the drain interval would be shorter, 5000-6000 km seems reasonable, 1000km doesn't make a lot of sense to me
