714 grams = 1 liter CNG. This conversion was done to match it with the scale of petrol so people can easily calculate how much they will be saving by using CNG insteaf of petrol
it was mentioned in a thread of 2002 which is no longer visible. but google it as "1 kg cng to liters" will result the same
