CNG mixing in patrol!

Dear All,

I have marghallah 1998 and have been running it on CNG from year 2000. She is quite well. Now i experienced a very new problem.

The patrol in the patrol tank became just dirty with a very bad smell. Also it became sticky to such extent that it jammed the fuel pump in patrol tank. I got my tank cleaned with replacement of fuel pump.

SAme thing happened again within 30 to 40 days again making patrol dirty and spoiling fuel pump.

I have been told one theory by the car mechanic that your CNG is mixing in patrol. However they have no solution. My CNG mechanic denies this theory and suggests to have new patrol tank.

Does any one ezperienced the same? Please give possible solutions if any.

First get the fuel pump connected to cng conversion(change over) switch in a way that it should be operated only whenever u drive the car on petrol and whenever u operate the car on cng it should remain in off position.Also check the rubberized fuel line(rubber hose pipe) for degradation,if found any degradation in rubberized fuel pipe then replace the rubber hoses because they are the main source of fuel contamination and ur fuel tank is getting dirty frequently.

Dear argtr65, thanku for your reply. I have already automated the fuel pump so it works only when care is converted to patrol.

I will take care of your second suggestion too. Hopefully, it will work.

Is there any situation possible where CNG contanimate the patrol in tank?

It is absolutely impossible mixing of cng with petrol,if it is happened then engine will never start or run smoothly.

i faced a similar problem a couple of weeks bak with my carby cultus. i always keep at least a quarter tank of petrol. it was only when i noticed a sharp depletion in petrol communicated by the fuel gauge and the car started missing also, with loss of pick and power. i got it chked from a reliable mechanic and he showed practically tht even when the cng switched was turned to reserve (in between cng and petrol), the engine didnt switch off after a while as it is supposed to be. he took out the fuel pipe from the carburettor and the petrol was constantly flowing.

He told me tht the fuel pump cannot be disengaged while the car is in cng mode. it was diagnosed tht there is a small gadget just beneath the air filter and above the carburettor, tht blocks the petrol from getting into the carb while the cng mode is engaged. this device (even the mechanic and the cng expert didnt know its name) was faulty and it was replaced with a new one costing 1k bucks. the problem is resolved now.

i am pretty sure same is the priblem with ur car. get this experiment done to ur car as well.
