Commando M151 Reliability

Assalam o Alikum everyone,
In looking to buy a commando jeep with 4x4 for about 4 lacs...
My total budget with is 5lacs but I want to buy one for 4 and keep 1 lac for repairs.
I found one with minimal rust 4x4 with its own 2.4l petrol engine... It is on sale for 4.5 lacs which is negotiable and is a bone stock jeep... It doesn't have the normal jeepy things like a shovel,jerry can, spare tyre. I heard they get bad gas mileage but petrol is not an issue for me Alhamdullilah... I will be using the jeep to for about 10 kms daily mainly going to college and back I will be doing some light offroading like driving it through the pothole ridden streets of Karachi.... I want to know if the m151 jeep is reliable enough to be driven mostly daily. I have a normal mechanic and I don't think that the jeep would that tough to work on by myself and him......
If I end up getting the jeep I have these things planned.
Changing oil and air filter
Changing diff oil
Homemade snorkel
Lights
And a soft top
I have found a few for even cheaper but the problem is they are not registered and I don't know how to register the damn thing...

AOA Brother, I myself own a M151 which I am currently in the process of restoring (it was parked for around 7-8 years).
Regarding your questions, it is not a vehicle that can be daily driven as it'll quite literally break your back or your neck, neither is it safe to be driven on highways. Reliability would depend on the amount of work and dedication you'll put in fixing it, they are quite easy and simple to work on but lack of spare parts will sometimes drive you to the edge (for example I can't seem to find their original spark plugs so I had to order them from the USA). Overall it's only good as a weekend warrior that you can take to your local off-road course.

Remember that you'll need 24V lights as the M151s electrics run on 24V

soft top

Custom fabricated soft tops look hideous imo. I got one made back in 2010 but I'm planning on removing it now

Well the one I saw buying had been converted to 12v and yeah I agree soft tops looks hideous... Unfortunately that jeep has now been sold and I'm looking to buy another m151 that isn't gonna break the back

Dayum that's a beautiful jeep Mashallah.. Well comfort isn't an issue for me since I've been used to driving a potohar. And when I drove a m151 for the first time it was somehow wayyyy more comfortable for me.. Well I am willing to get my hands dirty and try to repair maintain and source parts as much as I can and I'm a bit used to the unavailability of parts because my brother owned a beetle and I know how well that went
