Guys,
I'm extremely saddened to see such incidents that the cars and bikes are being stolen and then the cars or bikes are transported to other province and sold there. In such situations the owner whose vehicle is stolen will perhaps never be able to recover it and the person who is buying the vehicle in other province is basically buying a stolen vehicle.
If the vehicle is found after a few years, the guy who purchased the stolen vehicle will bear the financial loss and mental trauma as if he wasn't enough careful while purchasing could end up in legal issues as well. We are know how government's computerized systems works and how unreliable they often proved to be.
I fear this could happen to anyone including me.
Being a software engineer and willing to contribute to the community, I'm willing to create a secure website where people would be able to register their vehicles along with dedicated section of stolen vehicles where people could look out for car information before making a buying decision.
If we could build a community driven, country-wide database and discourage the sales of stolen vehicles, that'll directly impact on the reduction of stolen vehicles. This idea can further be expanded to the spare spats if people actually started using such a service dedicated to Pakistan.
I've plans to make the web project mobile friendly as well and perhaps information could be inquired by SMS as well. If you guys feel the need of it, a community driven website where features can be added, altered or enhanced based on the community needs, I think, this can proved to be a reliable resource.
What are your suggestions that should I go ahead with it ?
