What do you intend to do with your 3sgte? What are your power goals and which car do you want to install in? Like fzkhany said, in stock guise the 4th gen is more powerful 265 vs 245 bhp. However, there are caveats. For example, the 4th gen turbo is cast to the manifold so you cannot simply take one big turbo and slap it on to the 4th gen. You will have ti invest in a manifold as well. Secondly, 4th gen comes with coil on plugs setup so manually adjusting timing is not possible. You will have to invest in a aftermarket ecu or other devices to advance or retard your timing. Rest both platforms are very robust and they will both do the job just fine. They are very similar and any aftermarket performance part available for the 3rd gen can be adapted to work on the 4th gen. (95% of parts are direct bolt on compatible).
