Obviously city is more powerful than corolla. The weight to power ratio is great for city. But corolla is too heavy for a 1.3 lit engine.

Corolla 1.6 & Grande are alright but 1.3 is under powered.

City wins by a good margin in both power and acceleration.

Yes, City sure has more power. I don't know why, I've driven both, but corolla feels much better at higher speeds maybe due to wider stock tires? And then, I've seen Corollas neck-to-neck with Citys. Besides, corolla Gli offers more features like the Immobilizer, Trunk Opener, Reading Lights, Seperate Lamps for High and Low beams, Wider Stock Tires, and obviously, much wider body and newer shape, unlike citys' 8 years old.
