Comparison among “ALTIS 1.8”, “LANCER” and “SUNNY

Dear Friends,

After analyzing the number of ALTIS 1.8 cars present on roads of KARACHI, I have come to know that INDUS MOTORS COMPANY (the sole manufacturers/assemblers of TOYOTA COROLLA in Pakistan) was expecting it to be a “CASH COW” but the rate of sale of this model is not appreciable at all (the reasons might be HIGH PRICE, HEAVY ENGINE etc)…

I realize that in our country, many cars appear with delays due to presence of the evil of “PREMIUM” and late DELIVERY period) but even then, ALTIS has not created a striking-impression on the minds of car lovers…

In contrast, we see a number of “MITSUBISHI LANCER” and “NISSAN SUNNY” cars on road (although some people still fear about the resale and other factors) but both the cars are apparently much more common as compared to ALTIS 1.8 which should have captured the market as it is backed-up by the “brand” of TOYOTA…

What do you people think about it? (No rigid feelings please)

well here in Rawalpindi, i've seen many Lancer. There are about 20 Altis that i've seen and about 10 Sunny's that i've seen. I've bought a Super Saloon myself and should get it tomorrow insha'allah.

Lancer seems to be getting popular by the day and so is Optra. I think finally the pakistani public is buying something besides Honda and Toyota, seems to be a good sign.

One day we might have top manufacturers competing with each other in this country.

Hyundai is importing new cars by December, that is what i heard from the dealers.

Dear Basir Irfan,

You are right. Moreover, as the general public is becoming conscious about the “low quality” and “over-priced” cars being produced in our country, the sale of locally assembled cars is facing dangers, especially the cars in range between 1300 cc - 1800 cc category. People are preferring FOREIGN ASSEMBLED cars.

Also be advised that I am talking about ALTIS 1.8 only and not the XLI’s, GLI’s or 2.0D’s with new front and back lights.

I also own a Japanese NISSAN SUNNY 2005

another positive point of these imported cars is that there is no such thing as "ON or OWN"

If they are available at the dealership then you pay at the spot and drive away. This way you save money and drive away with a car which is quality wise much better than these local assembled cars.

Thanks for taking interest in the topic. It’s very good to hear form you that you are about to get a NISSAN SUNNY. I wish you the best of luck.

As my experience in increasing with the passage of time, I realized that my NISSAN SUNNY is simply the “BEST BUY” among “Japanese” cars available in Pakistan.

Moreover, I am using "NISSAN SUNNY" 1.3 (Ex-Saloon) since it has arrived in Pakistan (I think about 4 months). I have used Honda Civic Vti 1.6, Toyota Corolla 2.0D, Toyota Corolla Gli 2003, I found "NISSAN SUNNY" as SIMPLY THE BEST among the above mentioned models. I bought "NISSAN SUNNY" for the very first time in life as I don't like the name "SUNNY" and I was not loyal to this brand NISSAN... But, whenever I will buy a car in future, I will always keep this brand NISSAN is my mind.

"NISSAN SUNNY" has luxury at it's extreme, shape is breath-taking, road-grip is excellent, Air-bag etc in Rs. 11,25,000 only.

Last but not the least, "NISSAN SUNNY" is a Japan-assembled car...

Dear BASIT IRFAN,

My reply is in reference to your questions about "petrol average on high-way" and "performance on CNG" of NISSAN SUNNY 2005.

Dear Brother, my Nissan Sunny 1.3 (now around 5 months old) is giving the average of approximately 14km/litre(with A.C) inside city and I have never taken it to any high-way.

I also bought a CULTUS "VXL" (petrol) in June it gives a very bad average with A.C if we compare it with Nissan Sunny... Nissan Sunny is giving even better average than CULTUS!

Secondly, the "KARACHI CAB" (which roams in Karachi city in 100's of numbers) are all on CNG. I think the management of "KARACHI CAB" must have tested this car on CNG and also on all the other grounds... after finding it good for long-term, they introduced it in "CABS".

if altis is 1.8,it doesnt mean tht its fuel consumption is high.it has a vvt-i technology nd do u have any idea how much is its fuel consumption?????well if u have it then u must be knowing it but if u dont have it,then u must buy it and chek it out cuz da one i have,even though i drive recklessly it gives me about 10 to 12 kilometers??so guess how much it will do if i drive slow?????

as per my observation I rank cars in Lahore with respect to numbers the following way:
1- Lancer
2- Optra
3- Altis (1.8 vvt-i)
4- Sunny

no offence meant. May be my observation is not correct. But its true that the number of new sunny is not even 1/3 of the number of previous sunny models present. Nissan is not a new brand in Pakistan. Anyhow share your experiences as well.

Imagine how stomach sickening is the desease of premium. This morning I was looking for small size car, none of the 800CC car is without premium. Meharn VX cng is 345,000, ON is 60,000 which is more than 17% of car price. Who can justify this 17% to be put in haram khor's pocket.
in usa, dealers usually sell vehicles less than factory price, since car manufacturers sell cars to dealers to them their profit in MSRP.
I simply can't digest to pay such hefty bribe on buying cars. Solution, stop buying every single car made locally, that might change the mind of wolfs?

listen "SPRINT" .basically u dont knoe wht exactly premium means.its not haram for da takers.u all knoe how property shoot up in these past few months.i dont knoe where u live but here in islamabad da price of just da land of 1 canal was 5 cror.now who is responsible for tht.the genuine buyers who needed a house to live,now where should they go.....the way u think is wrong.da reason premium is high is tht there is a lot of demand nd there arnt enough cars.if u want to save ur precious 60 000 then book a car..da dealers dont take out a pistol nd say give us premium....its the company whom they r working under decides how much premium there should be according to there rate of production..on the other hand if someone could invest in property then i would say everyone has a right to invest in carzz...by da way the own does not always go to da dealer ,it goes towards the investor who had alraeady paid for da car..its only tht he booked one nd got it after 5 months then he sold it for about 60 000 own...this is how it works.

U r right abou price being higher because of more demand
but on the other side, supply is short that is why demand is more. who is responsible for shorter suply of cars.
it is the intention of dealers and companies to keep supply short so premium is created.
so in simple words, it falls under zakheera andozi.
i can show u 100 cars standing with the dealers in their yards and godowns but when u ask for booking they say no cars are available. just because they want to sell all those cars on premium.
dont try to justify such wrongdoings.
property prices are also a same
example. artificial demand is created to increase prices, by holding files and waiting for prices to increase.
it is pure haramkhori, no matter what u say.

u guys may be right about fuel costs. but there is not much of a diference in fuel consumption of 1.6 and 1.8 engines.

Moreover Honda will soon be introducing its 1.8 litre model in Pakistan as well.

i think JDM Toyota & Nissan are the best buys........Sunny make a successful comeback after many years...launching the new models are the making new ways fro Nissan to enter in pakistan market....Sunny was fabulous as always....great looks , fuel efficiency as always and nice looks and sober car to buy......don't listen any complain about the car..while u know what happening in our local market...they are just a BIG BIg robbers..robing from our own pplz...they are making many technical and physical faulty cars...and pplz are taking with just like nothing.....i think INDUS Toyota was the best among them....after that Atlas Honda comes then Pak Suzuki....Toyota was the best among locals...but Sunny comes over local Corolla...Lancer was also good but listening that it comes from Korea not Japan and having got some technical fault.....i have also read in articles some where but no conformation....

sprint,i do apologize for wht i said but its only tht we r in da world which is full of crimes.they seem to be everywhere.if one does somethin wrong it doesnt mean u blame others for it.mashalla we have always hoped good for our customers,nd we do everythin which is possible in our handz..the other thing is tht companies do not intentionally make the production less.its because of less resources availaible.if dealers r not booking da carz,go to another showroom nd if everywhere there is the same problem then there must be external but real factors or problems behind it.only god knowz who is honest nd who is not.maybe its due to our honesty tht we have been the best dealers in islamabad for years nd we still are..thiz is da world of business in which consumers come up with there own opinions and thoughts and it is then our job to satisfy them but on the other hand you people should also understand our problems.we have no influence over what company is producing or keeping its policies.its only tht there r dealers nd i knoe,who do da wrong stuff but if i do my job cleanly so why i am being blamed?????this is why i talked to u maybe in a harsh way which i shouldnt have but these r somethings which makes one mad.i knoe wht kinda problems u face as a consumer but i can tell u if u had a showroom of yours u would have said the same thing which im saying.....................

Hi everyone whether owns showroom or manufacturing concern. The thing is that in Pakistan no body bothers to think about public. Everyone here is trying to exploit poor public. Not caring even if earning is Haram or Hilal. We actually have forgotten Islam and are running after money. Khair, it’s a diff topic.
No one can justify premiums. In present circumstances it looks something rational but these circumstances are self created. Plants idle capacity don’t seem to be utilized and these companies say that booking is closed. These are just self created scenarios. No one can justify that.
What do you think could possibly be the steps to remove such menace.
