Comparison between City and Swift

Hi,

I will try to be as descriptive as possible. My budget is around 12 Lac. I have shortlisted City 2010 (Automatic) and Swift 2015 (Automatic). Both of them are of 12 lac.

Details of City:
Km's driven: 46000
Model: City Vario
touch up on both doors due to scratches (according to seller)

Details of Swift:
Km's driven: 55000
Model: Swift
touch up on left door due to scratches (according to seller)

The only reason im reluctant to go for city is that it is 8 years old compared to swift that is only 3 years old.

Don’t you think the City demand is somewhat high? I’m not sure about it’s market rate on an average but I feel so, especially when two doors have been repaired (Sorry but I don’t agree with the repaint due to scratches excuse)

go for city its better than swift in every aspect

Suitability as Family Car: City
Boot Space: City
Safety (ABS): Swift?
Safety (Airbags): Tie (None)
Drive Thrill: Swift (Relative)
Drive Quality: City
Cabin Comfort: City
Newness: Swift
Resale: Equal but slight advantage to Swift as Pak Suzuki is not likely to render it obsolete for another few years
AC: City
Availability of Parts: Tie
Performance on Long Hauls: City
You be the judge

To be honest.
I have used both Generations city at same time with swift. (City 2006, swift 2015) then (city 2009. Swift 2015).

Lets talk about the 2009-2010 city as you asked.
I will give just 1% advantage is all aspect to swift.
Acceleration , comfort , drive.

Ac of both cars are almost same, if maintained well.

In pick, swift is very good. (Again if maintained well).

In simple words, its about your priority, if you want a bigger car, city al the way.
If
Newer car, swift os the option.

There are 2 things matter i guess
Mileage and trunk
City got both the points.

If you are okay with the mileage issue go for swift.
Provided if you got a maintained car.

Just saying, i sold mine manual city 2009 , only 94k driven , well maintained, total genuine except 1 bumper 10months back but higher then the price you think you can get an auto.

City suspentions are stiff/hard , my persnal experience.

If you maintain swift good, it will give you good mileage.

If I were you I would have gone for swift apart from technical points which are already discussed by members above...The city in consideration here is older generation and an 8 years old car done only 46k kms sounds too good to be true to me( consider meter tempering issue) and if meter tempering is done then it means more trouble for you in future.

The City seems fishy. First of all, the previous gen city was discontinued by 2008. 2009 saw the new shape city. It can't be 2010 model. For a 4th gen city, 1.2 million is a lot of money. I won't believe the meter reading as well, since I feel that there is a deliberate attempt to mislead here.

I agree, 2010 City is of the present shape. The previous shape was last made in late 2008. So if the seller is saying it's a 2010 City but older shape then something is not right.

Best option would be to buy a brand new Wagon R and get peace of mind instead of feeling worried and confused.

Thanks for all your feedback guys, yeah, i thought the same thing when i saw the KMs on city. I think i will go with Swift even though its not as good as city but its comparatively newer. As for Wagon R, i really really dont like its shape, it looks like a Liana without the trunk and its not automatic as well.

If you want a new car, and don't want a Wagon R, you can check out the V2. Though that is also not an automatic, so that might put you off.

Look into other options, swift is just throwing money away on a pointless toy
