Comparison of General Tires with other imported Tires

Hi everyone,

Here I want to initiate a discussion quite specific for understanding of everyone while opting for tires, specially when it comes to comparison of imported and Pakistani made General tires.

In theory General tires look pretty good, specially when you look into their research lab based in Germany with continental.

Recently I had to install new tires in one of my cars and finally after some research, options narrowed down to choose between Bridge Stone Techno and General BG Trako. I opted for BG Trako to test them. So far it feels quite and comfortable on smooth roads - still not so sure about its hardness as compare to Bridge stone, still exploring...

Lets keep the discussion beyond price tag, and understand that hatter for General tires is only a myth - just because its locally manufactured and come in stock or is it really a bad tire. As I also observed quite number of times that people just go for imported tires without any understanding that what that tire is made for and what are its advantages and disadvantage - but they are imported.

I heard some good reviews about BG Trako. What size,Car and for how much you got them for?

I head they have low noise but the tread patern gives the impression they might not perform too well in wet conditions.

I installed them in Swift, 185/60/15. This is the only size comes in BG Trako series. I paid 22,000/- for 4 tires.

Your concern regarding the performance in wet conditions is quite valid; considering its impression. But it depends on driving style and speed you will accelerate to during those conditions. Usually such things effects when you are looking for taking out some performance, like racing etc, but for usual family car - I doubt someone would be accelerating in rain or slippery road... what do u think?
