yea it is... I used this procedure just to be 100% sure there is no carbon at all before going for a re-chrome for only cleaning I agree your idea would work!

Yaar caustic soda will work but do you think its a bit to harsh for the metal....... Buhat corossive hota hai caustic soda. ....... Mein tow mitti ke tail se dhooo liye kerta tha CG ka exhaust...... bend se khol leta tha. Any form of hydro-carbon will work let it be petrol, mitti ka tail or deisel........ all work well. These Hydro-carbon dissolve the carbon in themselves.... bilkul black solution bahar ata hai...... and its not that corossive as a caustic soda.

Clock wise rotation means richer & anti clock wise leans mixture
idle screw or fuel screw clock wise rotation would open it means
allowing more fuel or when you turn it and idle increases means more allowed

Air mixture screw se kaam yeh lena hota hai es se jitni possible ho idle speed le jaaye
air mixture screw ko aap full clock wise rotate karti jaaye janha full band hojaaye
tight na karo jaise h rotate na kare bus chorhdo tight karne se yeh kharaab hojaaega

meri pridor ka air mixture screw abhi one complete 360 turn than half turn than half of half turn
or in decimal you can its set at 1.75 turns anti clock wise

one turn of air mixture screw is one complete 360 degree rotation of screw
es mein band dokha kha sakta hai mein toh pehle confuse hota tha par ab
mein screw ki position mark karke one end ko note karke usko complete rotation deta
hon aur count karta jaata ho

Dekho bhai...... ideally when petrol (C8H18) combusts with Oxygen (O2) it produces 2 things........ carbon di oxide (CO2) and water (H20)

2C8H18 + 25O2 --------> 16CO2 + 18H2O

Matlab ideally there should not be any carbon deposits. However realistically its almost impossible to get the air fuel mixture 100% right. Just think of it of what your asking...... you are asking a 80's technology carb to mix exactly 2 parts of petrol with 25 parts of oxygen at every revolution of the engine...... bachay ki jaan lo ge kya.

Mere bhai...... CG loses its crispy exhaust note because of carbon deposits in the exhaust......... several people already have told you that........ its inevitable. Your Spark plug tip indicates the air fuel mixture is right on the money...... it should be chocolate brown in color. Cadbury ki chocolate ka jo color hota hai na..... woh hona chahiye.....jo hai.

If you want the same exhaust note back....... clean the exhaust. Indian filmo mein villain ko dekha hai na woh kaisay apni rifle ki naal ko saaf kerta tha......bas gabbar ban jao........ take a straight rod and roll a peice of cotton on its tip and give your CG a colonoscopy.

JEE SARKAR RESTORE HOJATI THI PHIR but frankly ek do baar saaf kiya hoga.......its too much hassle to go thru for an exhaust note. Shoro mein josh hota hai..... jaisa kay aap mein hai. baad mein thanda per jata hai........ there is a reason you see so few CG125's arround that have that crispy sound. bcoz after sometime....no ones bothers.

bas tow phir soochna kya hai......... utaar loo silencer..... and wash it with mitti ka tail or diesel.
You'll get the same exhaust note back.

Tried it. It produces no effect. No need to waste your effort on this.

Now i am strictly against rechroming it as well. The thing which took me time to understand, is that exhaust needs to "do its job" .... of pushing out the gases needed to be pushed out of engine. "Sound" (i.e. exhaust note) is secondary.

There is a "Jaali" at inside of rear end, of your exhaust which become damaged/cluttered after rechroming, because they (people doing the rechrome) dip it in acidic material to clean it out. Ultimately, this negatively affect bike's performance and bike doesn't breath properly. Yea it'll settle down eventually after a few kilometers, but you'll have to REALLY push the bike to get the exhuast hot enough, to be able to 'clear out' the "Jaalis".
