Confused: Civic Vti Oriel 99/00 vs 01/02 Oriel

Need some in-depth analysis of the above two since one of my friend is confused between the two. He was thinking to switch to either a 6th gen or a 7th Gen Oriel from an existing 98 Margalla GLX he has. Someone told him that a 99/00 Civic Oriel is more costly to maintain than a 01/02 7th Gen oriel. I dont have much info regarding maintenance cost of civics so those who have knowledge may please help out. Also note that the person will be upgrading from a 98 Margalla which is there with him for like 5 years now. How much difference in maintenance one would expect while switching from an old carby Margalla to a modern engined Civic. Since now both Civic models in question are almost a decade old so maintenance cost does matter a lot. Note that Exi should not come into discussion here since he has to decide between 2 oriel models.. Also is it a better idea to move from a 12 year old Suzuki to a 10 year Honda?? thanks

Maintenance cost of 7th gen is much higher than the 6th gen.
6th gen is better seller than 7th gen.
6th gen is more comfortable than 7th gen.
For a family, 7th gen will be a good choice cuz of more leg room, more trunk space and flat rear floor.
Economy wise, i think, 7th gen is better than 6th gen.
7th gen takes advantage of newer look.
Switching will be a good decision for sure, but in beggining, maintenance cost may bother ur frnd a bit. Normal maintenance like filters etc don't have much difference though. Infact they will be cheaper than 98 margalla. Im talking about spares

@panic said it all. People usually believe that 6th gen is costly to maintain but as a matter of fact it is more reliable and general maintenance parts come cheaper than 7th gen.
My experience; 6th gen is better in fuel economy than 7th gen.
IMO 6th gen facelift (99-00) is MUCH better looking than 7th gen or any other Civic or even any other local production car in Pakistan.

Frm my point of view 7th G has 5 advanctages,
(1)newer looks
(2)ABS brakes
(3)Seats hight adjustments
(4)More ground clearnence
(5)GooD interior and meter

6 generation fuel consumption
1 litres approx 8 kilometer in city
1 KG CNG approx 16 kilometers (without AC) in city

i believe 2000 Civic is much more comfortable and has better drive than the 2001 Civic

based on my experience of 00 vti and 05 vti, i would go for 05 vti anyday.

1) the gen has much better interior (which is where you spend most of time), more leg room, comfortable seats, retractable side mirrors, seat belt alarm, less noisy cabin etc.

2) 7th face lift (eagle eye) in my opinion is much better looking from out site (some honorable members might not agree with me)

3) 6th gen would be more aggressive in drive but poor in breaking.

4) 7th gen would have ABS which too me is a must have feature nowadays.

5) 6th gen would eat more fuel.

If your friend really wants to upgrade from 90s interior, breaks to new millennium he should look form some decently used vti orieal UG PT. it will cost him more initially but trust me he wont regret it

I had both cars at same time and i sold 00 oriel coz i never enjoyed its seat comfort, breaks and interior overall. In acceleration yes its much more responsive than 05 i still have

thanks for the inputs brothers. however a price difference of maintenance & repair of both will help us a lot. say prices of body parts like bumpers, head & tail lights.. prices of routine replaceable parts like air/ oil filter, brake pads etc.. considering that these cars are like 10 years old so suspension parts would be needed to be replaced/ repaired.. so cost of suspension related components of both would really help a lot. the guy is not a speed freak so performance extras & mods are out of debate here, the car will be a pure family driven vehicle. thanks again

and yes the 7th gen which is in consideration is 01-02 model which comes with a grey interior

Yea i had a civic 00 around 6 years back.The car was in mint condition.Unfortunately crashed it while racing.Now i have a coure 2004 and after 3-4 months i plan to sell it and shift to civic.Now i'm no longer confused.I plan to buy 7th gen civic.Civic 00 is not abs equipped and that was a major reason for my crash.I'v made up my mind.I'l buy a civic 01 or 02!

No doubt pk 06 was a awesome car.It was very powerful and a awesome exterior.It was the best car in it's time.When abs was not seen in any car here in pk.
