Now this may sound a bit dumb but i wanted to take opinion here about something which has really gotten me confused and i haven't done much of buying and selling of vehicles.
A couple of months back i bought a bike (CG125). As it was '11 model i was not sure how long i was going to keep it.
Despite insistence of friends to keep it on open letter i had it registered on my name. Here's the problem the booklet of the bike was in a pretty bad condition as it had been soaked by the previous owner and the first page which had bike info on it had come out.(I stapled it)
Anyways the previous owner went with me to excise office and the bike got transfered to my name, after 2 weeks when booklet was being handed over to me the excise officer told me that "you are very lucky considering the condition of the book a trip to Lhr was most likely". (Bike is Lhr registered and i live in rwp.)
Here's the problem that now when i am planning to sell the bike the two parties who visited the bike demanded that i cut 8-10k from price due to the condition of the book
cuz it may or may not get registered on their name despite of my assurances that i will go to the excise office with them.
Now i wanted to ask is it fair ? if i go to lhr will they issue me a new booklet or a duplicate one ? I mean the condition isn't that bad, they have put a new transfer sticker containing my details so i don't think there should be a problem.
Some advice in this regard would be highly appreciated, as to what is the best way to proceed ?
