Confusion regarding Engine oil spec

Aoa.

I was searching for an appropriate oil rating to use in my car and came across few posts which states that one should use at least 10w/5w-40 instead of using 5w/10w-30 viscosity keeping in mind the weather conditions of Pakistan.

I'm totally a layman when it comes to engine oils so calling out experts, which spec oil should I use in my cars as I have been using Havoline Formula 10w-30 in my cars in both summers and winters. @xulfiqar @ser_gtr @capsat Please have a look in here and suggest accordingly.

Brother the most important thing is that what engine oil your motor needs and what is written in owner's manual.

There is no point in using an AMSOIL Signature series 0W30 oil in a Suzuki Alto or Daihatsu Cuore and similarly a Shell Helix HX3 lal dabba is no good for R18 motor of Civic or even 2NZ-FE. You have to match both for perfect performance.

10W30 works good most of the times.

My Canadian 2004 Honda Civic EX Coupe had a recommendation of 5W20 oil for all seasons with API SJ grade or higher but the Mobil 1 Extended Performance which I used that time was so good that it easily exceeds today's API SN standard or even any standard that will come in future 10 years.

The recommended engine oil for my 3G 1986 Canadian Accord was 10W40 for temperatures ranging between -20C to 40C.

ZIC Is Also Good But There Are Soo Much Of Fake/Genuine Stuff In It.....If You Find Genuine Product...Its Not Bad Either...!

What are the cons of using 10W30 in a Pakistani environment? as I've been using that in my Axio with no issues at all.

Manual recommends (nothing related to weather mentioned):

・SM 0W-20 (API SM、EC/ILSAC GF-4、SAE 0W-20)
・SM 5W-30 (API SM、EC/ILSAC GF-4、SAE 5W-30)
・SM 10W-30(API SM、EC/ILSAC GF-4、SAE 10W-30)
・SL 5W-20 (API SL、EC、SAE 5W-20)
・SL 10W-30(API SL、EC、SAE 10W-30)

I got your point brother. I checked owners manual also and according to it, 10w-30 should work fine. But when it comes to summers. I think 10w-30 will give up in hard conditions like you are stuck in traffic jam in 45 degrees temperature and AC is on.

Yes I did check the owners manual and checked that chart. It also says that 10w-40 works best in all weather conditions. But when I talked to dealership people about oil, they said there is no harm in using 10w-30 as genuine oil which they are selling is also graded as 10w-30. and I agree to your point that 10w-30 will give up in summers when temperature outside is more than 45 degrees and AC is on and drive is of low gears.
So from now on wards I will use 10w-40 and please suggest which brand should I use? As @bradpit suggested Liqui Moly MoS2. Is it a good choice?

and how much engine oil an R18A engine requires? I heard somewhere that it requires 4.5 litres but Genuine Honda Oil packing is of 3.7 litres. Pretty much confused.
What do you people say about Caltex havoline 5w-40? Is it a good oil or ?

Best Is To Drain Oil.......Replace Filter...Fill Oil Upto Dipstick Mark And Start The Motor...!

On Next Morning Of If You Leave Car Parked For Like Atleast 4 Hours ..Oil WIll Settle Down.....CHeck Dipstick Again And Fill As Needed Again...!

Don't Overfill For The 1st Time As It Will Be Hassle If You Need To Take It Out Back....!

One more thing I'd like to ask. Can we use synthetic oils in 100k driven and approx 5 years old motor? Many people say that synthetics are for newer engines and mineral oils are for older engines. Personally I think that there is no harm in using synthetic in 100k driven motor. No?
