Container House in Naran/Kaghan

I am going with friends to Naran/Kaghan for the 1st time. I have some experience in travelling as I have traveled to Neelum vellay, Gallyat and Fort Monroe. We are going after Eid in July. I (including one of my friend) have urge to have own place in Naran or kaghan (so we can live there in Ramdan).

3 or 5 marla plot in city or near to city along basic facilities will be good. I am of a point to construct a concrete foundation and place 2 20" feet container (insulated and solar powered) on this foundation. Roof of containers can be used as sitting area. My friend wants fully desi 4 walled house which I think is waste of money as we only have to live there for shorter period of time. anyone seen container home or office in Pakistan? They look pretty good in other countries.

Question
1) Where to find containers and price of container?
2) Are they good/workable/livable in Naran/Kaghan environment?
3) Cost of land near to city or in city with basic facilities?

I think 120000 to 150000 will be good amount (except land price) for containers/Solar/Insulation and transportation to city.
Any suggestion/idea or remarks?

i was also wondering how practical these containers house could be in other cities of pakistan (including lahore islamabad karachi etc.), have someone looked into their practicality?

@wahab they may be feasible in naran Kaghan but not in Lhr or Khi due to extreme summer. These houses can be used as emergency alternative in far flung areas. They are pretty solid if properly maintained and handled.

Hi, i had been working with a company that used to make these portable container houses/offices. they can be feasible for colder areas .But as far as i remember the cost will be almost double or more then your estimate. according to my estimate an empty container costs around 70 to 80 thousands. An alternative to this will be a steel structure house that gives you flexibility of design. And also a heavy solar system will also be costly. But still it will be cheaper than a standard house.
These are not ready made you have to order one and can be found easily built in pakistan.
In islamabad there are different peoples building these container houses in tarnol area.
So it can be done with ease

my father used to work in Muzaffarabad AJK and his office used to be in a container. got too hot in summers but they had good ACs in it. Yes in naran it would be good but u will need to insulate it completely.

@nagar1 I think in Naran or Kaghan we dont need AC for summer (that`s my idea). proper solar ventilation system is enough (exhaust in and out). I called couple of companies in lahore and they are asking for 150000 for empty container and upto 250000 with insulated one.
@SALAR_R can u confirm empty container price (of standard quality) from company? steel structure is cheaper but will be extremely hot in summer without proper cooling system. Tried olx. some people are making these containers but asking 250k or 300k for a 20 feet container

We have a few of these containers (porta cabins) on the premises of our company in Karachi and without air conditioning they are intolerable. Although they have doors, windows and built in WC but in my opinion less practical or comfortable than a bricks and concrete house.

i am really sorry that company ended there business 1.5 year ago but i can try to get a rough estimate about container price . Are you located in RWP? if yes then just visit tarnol area ,you will find both container sellers and container fabricators there.

Modulustech from karachi making pre-fabricated material houses. I will pay them visit if ever goes to Karachi. anyone seen them working?
