Conversion of Yamaha YB125Z to all down gear pattern

Dear Friends,
As this news is almost confirm that Yamaha is going to change the gear pattern of YBZ to all down. Today a Yamaha 3S mechanic told me that the YBZ with existing gear pattern will be easily converted to the down gear pattern by just changing the gear drum in the engine. He said that Yamaha is expecting a lot of conversions, so they have already planned to supply these gear drums to their service shops in sufficient quantities.
My question is that will this conversion be successful?

Friends, I haven't mentioned anywhere in my post that I want to convert mine. I just wanted to know the technical aspects of this conversion and that's why I posted this question. So please give your input in light of the asked question.

Well it may be possible but one should never go for this until & unless engine is required to be opened. To let your sealed new engine opened for this changing gear pattern is foolish step.
