Conversion on diesel cars on CNG now possible?

I cannot understand - that at one point we are discussing resale value etc, (meaning our cars do not lose their value ever) and on the other hand we talk about running them on CNG - which in all terms is a hassle if not done properly - and usually due to mistakes ruins the car. Meaning that cars in our country are not assets and we have junkyards in which we crush them after their life of 5 years is over.

Running vehicles on CNG is not very economical - The best tests can be done only if one caculates the entire costs of ownership over a period of 4 years - meaning, tune ups, CNG servicings, time, wear - I have been driving diesels a lot and still drive a diesel mercedes in the US, WHY - they are less of a hassle to own desipte diesel being more expensive than petrol.

Diesel Mercedese in US??? seems pretty wierd!!! :o US is the biggest enemy of DIESEL hahaha . . . in EU, 55% cars are diesel powerd

I have seen this in person in Karachi at a CNG conversion shop who were trying to clean out the oil from the cylinder. I was very lucky as the cylinder did not hit me - but a cement brick wall which it holed through then rammed into a suzuki Bolan completely ruining it from one side, The person working on it, was bleeding from his ears from the explosion sound, his clothes in tatters, wounds and lacerations gaping open - He was passed out and I do not know what became of him later.

Disagree! Small hatchback, or midsize sedan (less than 1.8 petrol engine) is very economical for driving in cities even after serviceing and damage due to CNG use. Personally I use 95% CNG all the time

But use of CNG in BIG SUVs, trucks and diesel buses is not a good thing. And yes diesel engines are tougher than petrol ones (but lack speed :P)

nice post, few people where looking for diesel to cng conversion thing
but the future of cng is bleak.demand is going up very high, where as supply is pretty less

Govt has imposed total ban on industrial and commercial gas connections for next 6 months. No new CNG stations can be established anywhere, while government may shut down 25% CNG stations in future.

They say we have gas resources just for next 20 years, and if all trucks and buses start using CNG, it'll drop it to 15 years. . .

aur CNG and diesel, petrol ka price difference bhi kam ho jaey ga. . . Govt may impose CNG levy, because jab 90% vehicles CNG par hein tu Petroluem levy ka kia faida?

Dear friends i fail to understand why people do not use hydrogen kits for the petrol and diesel engines .It gives you a saving of about 40%.Is it because of oil companies mafia

govt is already charging 30% tax to CNG pumps ab aur Kitna tax lagay ga

Sure! but that's what we understand, our leaders don't. Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan stands with some of the African capitals (of Congo, Somalia and Nigeria) where public transport system doesn't even exist. It badly needs a decent bus service, but if any private company tries to ply buses without govt's support, I can say she'll loss her investment with in 3 years

And now Americans are also looking forward to shift from big SUVs, full size trucks and full size taxi cabs to buses, light rails and hybrid/electric cars/taxis. They're planning to replace all Ford Crown Victoria cabs by Toyota Prius and other electric cabs.
