Conversion on diesel cars on CNG now possible?

A rather good news for diesel car owners
now you can convert your diesel cars on CNG
confirmation needed,, i'll upload the brocher soon
i'vheard that the technology consumes 5-10% diesel and remaining CNG ,both CNG and diesel combustion is done simultaneously.

Im not sure about the working but i have often seen local public buses here in Karachi at cng pumps. Its getting common real quick. i asked a bus driver and he said that they alter the head and stuff. Couldn't get details.

and what i didn't get is that on one hand government cries about shortage of CNG in Pakistan, and on the other hand, they are promoting CNG buses and public transport....i mean WTF ????

I travelled on a Toyota Coaster (long Chaises, 37 seater converted CNG) from Lahore to Isb. It was really really disappointing one thing, he filled up 3 times on the way, then it sucked on hilly roads jab bhi koi cadhai aati thi to speed 10 kms se bhi kam ho jati thi, even Bedford trucks bhi humein cross kar rahe the:P

Driver told me that we can't use diesel or petrol, it runs just on CNG. btw yeh jo chez aap bata rahe ho, it's different and may be better BUT. . .

Remember! after 3 years, there won't be enough gas even for domestic use. Industrialists are planning to replace gas by coal If govt fail to bring Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline, CNG won't be available on highways. It would be available only in big cities like Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad etc. . .

So NEVER ever invest in this thing, at least car/jeep owners should stay away from it. Just sell your diesel car and get a car which suits CNG

Anyway they say they can convert 10 wheelers to CNG? if yes, it would need 9 to 10 CNG cylinder of 60 kg!!! tu loading kahan ho gi aur tanks kahan lagen ge? Maximum 3 cylinders can be installed safely under bed. . .

Just sell your diesel car and get a car which suits CNG

When CNG wont be available, then u cant do any thing. So selling the vehicle is not a wise decision.

I mean those who can't afford expensive diesel should NEVER go for this "New Technology", rather it's much better to replace your diesel car by CNG vehicle. . . . .

we waisted our natural resource because of lack of planning , in my point of view cng should be banned for use in cars , instead of that cng buses should have been introduced , if 50 people take their ride to office n waiste cng , buses can be very economical n they can carry many passengers with the use of only 20 cars cng max . . .

but with fuel prices now Car usage is very difficult especially Diesel ones, but on the other hand if we try to use the public Transport thr Condition/Driver adn Public Atititude and especically if with family/Safety/Timeliness/Rates its bif queston and mostly turn to NO.

So in any condition we have problems, while currently with CNG peoples feels its very cheap as its refill is cheap while if you consider in long run/Maintenance/Refill Headache thn its also not easy.

Those Diesel CNG Conversions i have checked as many Buses are using it and thy claim of saving 35-45% of total cost

+1, 100% agree! even Euro std diesel bus can save billion of dollars each year!!!

But our leaders are not willing to promote it, Prime Minister announced to ply 8000 buses three years ago. All things are ready, but no one is ready to bring buses because of:

1) Shortage of CNG
2) Security threats (transport mafia)
3) Non serious behaviour of government

Although diesel is expensive but there is less tension when we have to move some where in ungency. There is also shortage of petrol along with CNG now a days. Although the problem of shortage is partially related to some areas but still it is. e.g, in my village (in District Attock) there was no petrol available yesterday. Gas tow waisay hai hi nahi udhar. i think same problem will be there in many areas.

sorry 4 going off the topic in above post but i wanted to say that converting the petrol or even diesel vehicles to CNG is not a good choice now a days. Instead we should limit our usage of vehicles whenever possible.

Our natural gas resource are enough for next 200+ years according to our consumption needs and if growth of CNG increase at same rate.Natural Gas load management plan is just to deceive our nation.Our government is just making fool us.

Ok, you can save 30-45% money but relaibility remains a question mark.

But what do you mean by "TIME"? Which one is better, 5 minutes' diesel tank filling once (200 liters) or 10 minutes CNG filling thrice? and one more thing, not all CNG stations are fast filling. That was the point when Midway's consourtiam refused to ply CNG buses in Islamabad. They demanded their own fast filling CNG pumps to ply 300 CNG buses in the capital, but CDA refused

and last but not least,

"More power & speed :P" if power & speed "increase" after conversion, then why don't the truck manufactures do that?

The fact is, Chinese CNG buses FAILED in Rawalpindi and Lahore. Hino CNG buses (no diesel/petrol, run 100% on CNG) are much better, but sale is not as high as diesel buses.

Big vehicles, big engines, big tanks & BIG risk!!!

And buses have been converted to CNG just a few month ago, i.e. technology is new. In such a short time, it has claimed 13 lives.

& LOOK at trailor tractor (shown in ad), 12 CNG tanks over hot engine and a BIG one on side. Extreme heat (of engine) can cause the safety valves to leak, leading to fire. and if the frame break/melt, CNG tanks (not explode but) could become self-propelled missiles!!!

Well just leave it, Safety is of LEAST concern in Pakistan

I have seen this in person in Karachi at a CNG conversion shop who were trying to clean out the oil from the cylinder. I was very lucky as the cylinder did not hit me - but a cement brick wall which it holed through then rammed into a suzuki Bolan completely ruining it from one side, The person working on it, was bleeding from his ears from the explosion sound, his clothes in tatters, wounds and lacerations gaping open - He was passed out and I do not know what became of him later.
