Coolant check in Civic X 2018

My question is that how to check the coolant level in civic? And how often we should do it?
Like in normal cars when we start long journey we check water level . What about civic
Can we use distilled water?. I HAVE NOT CHECKED IT YET BUT i want to know about it

There is a coolant bottle, open it and using a flash light check the level from the outside. Distilled water can be used in many cases but it's better to buy the blue coolant that it uses which if i remember correctly is like 1,200 from Honda and lasts multiple years on a non leaking system.

Regular checks are good. Much better than the people who do it once. A year

If my car demanded I open its bonnet every few days, Im getting rid of it or fixing it for good.

Coolant level doesnt move much unless you have a leak.

Old 2.0Ds that used normal water had to be topped up on a trip like ISB-Naran.

Lol no. I had an Indus Corolla 2.0D for fifteen years and not once did I use a coolant in it. It was regular tap water. We sold the car 15 years later with the engine pretty much in the same condition it was when it was brand new.

You obviously shouldn't do that in a new car. But these are cars with 30 year old engines.

The car isn’t demanding the check its just what older drivers recommend. Its a habit in some households to check water oil and battery water regularly. Whenever we buy a used car we also check it every other day for leaks. Some people do it on long travels due to highway usage. Again its from older drivers who did this on long tours as highways were rough on older cars.

New cars are very nicely designed so they dont need much intervention, old white haired chaeuffer/driver who learned to drive on a ford model A needs to retire or get in touch with reality.

Cooling systems have been closed loop for decades now and coolants have extremely long life too. They dont suffer drop out or acid formation like they did in the past.

You are assuming the engine was not corroded internally. In reality no diesel engine survives cavitation damage done by plain water usage.

What you did was offload the problem to the next owner.

If the coolant level is on cold/low mark on dead cold engine and above it while at full operating temperature (this means system is working good)

And if the coolant is not adulterated, you are good to go. You wont need to perform radiator cap and coolant ziarat every day.
