Coolant Decrease

Dear All,

I require help from the experts here regarding my recently bought liana. Its a 1.6 eminent variant.

Aesa hai k my car has been observed to reduce the coolant. And bottle used to get filled up instead of reducing.

After a good 300km trip in one go, i once saw a rise in heat and when checked, found that radiator water was almost zero and bottle emptied as well. Got that filled up after cooling and things were good to go again.

As per suggestions from mechanics and all other people around, have done following so far:

1. Changed the radiator cap to a genuine 1.1 cap
2. Radiator has been serviced. Was found to be slightly chocked.
3. Changed gasket
4. Changed water pump (or water body as its said)

So far its still found to be reducing coolant. Bottle level remains same, however coolant in radiator gets reduced.

Approx takes 500ml after 50km trip.

Any idea what could be the problem.?? There is no leakage as per mechanic.

Adding one more thing, the gasket was changed some 6-7 days ago and as per mechanic, ye 10-12 din tak kam karegi pani phr level m ajaega.

Check all the rubber pipes for leaks

To me, it seems that there are leakages in the coolant system (radiator, hoses / different pipes attached with the system, etc.) which your mechanic is unable to find out.

Was found to be slightly chocked.

If it was choked, and forced flushing / cleaning was done, then it might be possible that some cracks have developed in it (however minute they are) and resulting in leakages.

Please check for any leakages, also below the car, when you have parked it for some time (like 2~3 hours or more) and Radiator + reservoir bottle is full.

Better to observe it in the morning, when car has been parked for whole night.

There is no leakage as per mechanic.

To me, the mechanic does not seem a sensible person, else if, he would have found the root cause of the issue, and took remedial actions accordingly, instead of just saying that there are no leaks.

If there are no leaks, then where is that water / coolant going?

When everything gets sorted out and settled, use proper coolant mixed with water in 50:50 ratio. Caltex coolant is excellent.

Fan must be on Auto, and T-Valve (also known as Thermostat valve) installed, in all cases.

Thermostat valve is not present as per mechanic. Fan direct h. Gasket abhi korean dali h isne, as per him this is better than Japanese counterpart.

Also, he suggested that agar is working se masla hal na hua pani ka to we can direct the second fan (AC fan) as well.

Can some one please guide here on this?

Basit, ive observed for the water leaks myself as well, but dint find any water coolant leakage.

Do u think T valve could be issue? And Fan being direct could be issue?

Nope. T valve and fan were on a general note.

Brother I am a bit confused. Do you have simple, plain water in the radiator, or coolant?

Its NASA coolant right now. 3 liters of coolant mixed with water to fill up to levels.

Ok. But what's NASA coolant? Never heard about it.

Is it local or imported?

Yr im new to these things, mechanic kehta h k gasket wagera dala h to let it sit in for 8-10 days, system m air packets hote hen unko nikalne m time lagega.. Phr set hojaega..

I think the mechanic is incompetent, that's why he is saying such things.

Avoid using it and get rid of it ASAP.

Use coolant from some reputed and imported brands, like ZIC, Caltex, Aisin, etc.

Im from karachi. Do u have any good mechanic who can find out the issue and work on remedy. Coz these hits and tries have already costed me some 15-20k.

Can u please explain that oil cap part? Is it oil cap for sure or its typo and supposed to mean radiator cap? Isko thandi gari m check karna h? Or hot?

Also, since u mentioned pressure in the cooling system, when i take a 50km ride from home to office and back, and the car is parked overnight and open the radiator cap in the morning, uske se kuch pressurised air nikalte h, not sure if its normal to be that.

By oil cap, it means the engine oil cap; which engine oil change guy removes to pour in the fresh, new engine oil, in the engine.

Check engine oil cap, when engine is hot and on optimum temperature.
