Cooling the room using exhaust fan

Summers are at their peak and the top portion of our house has now effectively turned into a tandoor. Even after 6 hours of sunset the rooms in the upper portion are just abnormally hot. Our house has always been hot but last year we got look testament for seepage and because the look is black I think that has intensified the problem. One of the rooms doesn't have an ac and is used very frequently so I came up with a plan

1) use an exhaust fan to blow out air which will make the whole room cooler

2) use a room water cooler

3) use a room water cooler along with an exhaust fan to make the cooler useable in very humid weather

If anyone has ever done this then please share your thoughts.

1) If you use an exhaust fan to removed heated air from the top of the room, then the fresh air which is being sucked in through the doors and windows will be warm too unless it is coming from a cooler location in your house. This point needs to be considered.

2) Room water cooler is a good option in hot dry weather. Go for it!

3) This option can be tried as I have no experience of this. All I have experienced is that in humid weather a cooler is not so effective and all doors and windows need to be opened to prevent humidity build up in the room.

You may try these options and hope it manages to cool your room.

My main concern/curiosity is that will an exhaust fan be any good for removing humidity in the months of July and September?

Islamabad. In the months of July and August the humidity is too much over here too but I'm thinking of buying a water cooler along with an exhaust fan. Will a exhaust fan be a good idea to get rid of the humidity?

Well using a good size exhaust on top wall after sunset with only those windows open from where cool air can be sucked is quite effective especially 9f outside temperature is low as during night. .I am satisfied by using this.. I have an additional exhaust fixed on window bringing fresh air in another room without any exhaust is also good.

We have a big desert cooler in our house and all Windows are closed except the ones in the upper story. The cool air escapes worn pressure from there, effectively carrying the hot air out of the house.

It is an old idea using the funnel effect of the air...you collect air at a large inlet and then vent it through a small outlet..this add pressure and allows for natural venting of air from living spaces...

If you live in a dry area...using a exhaust fan with wet pad installed on the inlet window will help cool the space..

We use room air cooler placed inside home and air ventilated out to outside through large window. An exhaust fan may make the room a bit better. Though the air being already heavy with water does not have much evaporating capacity in July-August weather. Recently I visited, Islamabad, Pakistan during hot months of May-September to get married ( I am not 86, lol..) . I used Exhaust and Room cooler. The Room cooler was installed in the window to draw the air in. It worked well, plus during load shedding, it worked as well on the UPS. Another thing some people do, is add ice cubes or chunks of ice in the Room Cooler's Water tank. It throws ice cold air like an A/C and much less use of electricity. During August with high humidity, it was not as effective. Another relative in Islamabad, placed their Lahori Room Cooler in the Mumty, (the 3rd floor Stairway room), and with all the windoes closed, it pushed the Air downstairs on the Ground Level which felt really cool and relaxing. The keys is movement of air thru out the house with exhaust of the hot air at the top portion. I live in US and I rarely visit Pakistan, may be once in 10 years, so this contraption on the budget help me a lot.
