Corolla 2003 Engine Swap Suggestions

Guys,
I swapped 1NzFe(Automatic Tranny) 2 years back in my Corolla 2.0D Saloon. Engine has been good but the mileage has always been poor, below 10. Anyways, the car went through an accident and now I plan to swap the engine again. So guys suggest me a good engine, it has to be fuel efficient (Auto Or Manual), please recommend some good engine considering the weight of the car. Doesnt have to be a Toyota engine. Please recommend a good engine with estimated cost. As for the current engine, it sensors are messed up, power pump is giving noises etc etc.
Help me out guys, I can go out of Lahore for swap too.
P.S : Selling the car isnt an option.

I think the same engine with manual transmission, it will improve mileage.

And change the silencer with petrol xli one.

Where do I find the xli silencer in lahore? Please tell me, I went to shadiwal market they asked which dholki do you want, front wali ya back wali.

I asked a local silencer wala in peshawar he said i have full new silencer of xli..

I swapped a 1zzfe from a premio into my ex-Se Saloon. Worked well.
