Corolla 2007 2.0D Fuel Average

Dear all

I am interested in buying Corolla 2.0 D 2007. I want to know about the fuel economy it gives. I have observed that many people on PW and OLX who are selling, have mentioned around 16Km local and 20Km/l on long. Also please suggest if one should buy this car or not.

I have never owned diesel car before but i am fed up from petrol driven cars. Can you please tell me what is required maintenance for diesel engines?

Nothing much
Just keep air filter clean
Check valve clearance every 100k km and adjust as required
Get your diesel pump injection timing right and dont ever mess with it unless needed

Thanks. One more thing, is there any difference between Corolla 2.0D indus shape and later on models? do they give same economy?

Later shape is heavier and consume slight more fuel than indus shape being heavier but in later 9th gen corolla you have advantage of getting 2d saloon which is altis with diesel engine with advantage of abs and airbags
