Corolla 2016 Ac problem

Hi, Hope you guys are doing well!

I want to discuss the problem with the Ac of my corolla 1300cc. So, the Ac problem from no where like i was driving & suddenly the cooling almost stopped. Then I drove for some days to check if the problem is real or not. I discovered that my Ac doesn't work when my car is stuck in traffic or when i don't rev much.

I went to mechanic and told him the Ac problem and he asked me that how much the car driven, i said almost 40,000. He told me that this is the common issue which always come in this 1300cc engine after 40k - 60k mileage. He said that the compressor, condenser & all pipes and hoses will be changed. He said this the problem of compressor & the compressor now only runs when my Rpm level is high like 2500 - 3000 Rpm.

The compressor would be of Corolla 2007 which comes with same 1300cc engine.

The total expense including the labour would be 70,000.

I want to know that is this problem really common in this engine and is he asking the right amount for parts and labour?

Well my uncle has gli 2016.It,s 50,000 kms driven and ac is working good.Maybe ur compressor is ok and have some other issue.Get it checked by other ac workshop.And mention ur city so members can recommend u other places.

Yes same case with my corolla 2015 XLI. Mechanic says you have to change all unit. estimate price is around 20000. i am confused.

Just change the compressor with a new or used one. These sensored compressors sometimes develop these faults. Do not go for the old non sensored system like mechanic suggested as the load on engine will increase and fuel economy will decrease.

Where are you from? I got same works for my 2016 altis 1.8 cvti last year from coolsun Lahore in just 30k rs. New condensor, compressor of terios, labour and honeywell gas. Stay away from the mechanic who is guiding you wrong and trying to make money from you. Brand new compressor costs 70k rs. You can get that in such budget.
With vacuuming and refill of gas it will cost you 80k max. Its a common issue in corolla with ac compressors. I faced same issues and compressor gave up at 110k kms.

In 70 80 k u can get all brand new items
In 20 30 k u will get used compressor and new condensor
Condensor will change in both case and it only comes brand new
It get faulty any time kindly co ordinate with an ac expert not from mechanic
And ask him u dont want any change in cooling, rpm and fuel avg after this work other wise some are so unskill they will create a headache for u

Not much, sensor wiring was taken out and relay was added into it.
Idle Rpm remains the same, drops slightly for few milisecond when compressor turns on and turn backs to normal immediately
Its cooling is way better then the genuine one as the compressor is of terios. I didn't feel much difference. I got 16.5-17km/l on 120km/h cruise in August. Got all the work from coolsun Lahore.

Exactly! The same mechanic told me that there would be a change in engine pick + Average. (if i would go for uncensored one)

Now I'm confused whether to change only compressor or whole unit.

We have a corolla 2016 model 130k driven and AC is completely stock from factory and working good.
It just takes time to throw cool air if car is parked under direct sunlight.

I would suggest dont go for jugari work get company fitted compressor (New) and get proper AC work from company or any other good workshop, otherwise you will face cooling, engine load, and low average issues.

got the same issue on my corolla 2010 since last year when it was 200k driven. gotten a bit better this year, but still quite annoying when it happens. i really wish someone would just repair sensor of the AC here.

Also facing same issue in my 2016 altis 1.6.
Cooling was low but compressor was working.
Mechanic said new compressor is required along with condenser and all lines change.
Quoted me 150k for complete genuine replacement.

Then I went to an Ac repair shop and the guy first checked that gas pressure was low, traced the leak to the condenser. He changed the condenser and filled gas for 19k. Then after a day compressor went full dead. Now the Ac repair guy says he can put a 2012 Honda city compressor in for 25k and no need to change condenser since it's already new.

Should I got for magnetic Honda city compressor for 25k or genuine sensor based compressor for 125k?

Clutch type compressor works 100% fine.
Using toyota rush compressor from 3 years now in 2016 1.8 cvti Altis.
City compressor will put less load too on the engine. If you will fit original then there will be no load. Cooling of both will be great. You will get what you pay for. So decide accordingly.
