old corolla didnt have a PWM sensor on the compressor, just a magnet clutch on its nose.
other cars like Fords have a compressor with both a clutch and a PWM solenoid - meaning it uses both technologies in the same compressor.
They work fantastic - just like the Toyota ones. Never seen one fail just because it wanted to take a dump. AC parts suppliers here actually made small videos explaining to independant techs/mechanics on what happens if the system is handled wrong. Car manufacturers did their own but for their own mechanics.
