Corolla 2016 GLi issue

I have corolla 2016 was newly bought by me and used around 105k, my car is perfectly maintained but its been a while I am facing an issue when the car is one ideal and A/C trips and as I give some rpm then it starts working, I asked some A/C mechanic he told me that this car has sensor compressor A/C so after some time this will happen when you are driving and after that, it will stop working, he told me the best option is that to install 2007/2008 corolla compressor, guys please suggest me what should I do? should I get a new sensor compressor or install the one mechanic is telling me, for me It sounds bad to me to get old type compressor into another tech.

I did the same in my 2016 1.8 Altis cvti. I installed a.c compressor of 1.8 2006 corolla. My ac compressor which was sensor type gave similar types of issues. I changed it with sensor type and it started giving same issues after a year. I went to coolsun at temple road Lahore and they charged me around 28000rs for installation of 2006 Corolla Altis clutch type ac compressor, brand new ac condenser and ac gas of honeywell. Alhamdullilah its super chilly now in summers.

I was also hesistant due to this, but that's the only solution. Those clutch type compressors are much more reliable and durable in corolla as compared to this sensor type.

why they didn't stick to the previous model ones if it's working that super fine??

doesn't mean I am ridiculing but just need to understand the primary reason or is it some kind of technicality involved

What about the thousands of Corollas on the road. Do they downgrade too? While it may be "one of the solutions" I still wont recommend going that route.

My 2012 gli's AC used to trip and would take quite a time to turn on by itself again. The culprit was sensor based compressor. I got clutch based compressor of duet installed in my car. It's been three years; the cooling is really great, but it has slightly reduced the fuel average of car. The total cost incurred was Rs. 14000.

its simple that you just have to cut the wires of that sensor which is pluged above the compressor with the 2 wires. it will be resolved i also faced this issue earlier then my issue got resolved. so iam in karachi which have lots of heat waves just like the car's gaskit have been gone. here in karachi mechanics have lots of jugaars in their mind so first let their jugaar done if not satisfy then move to install the new old modeled corrolla AC compresor.

Go ahead! Install the sensor type compressor. Coz from junkyard you will not find a 100% working sensor type compressor. Price is 80000 thousand rupees for just a brand new compressor, and that too from partscentral not dealership.
Fyi: I recommended a cost effective solution to the problem. It is running perfectly in my car though. New sensor type compressor will put pretty less load on engine as compared to old clutch ones. Sensor type work fine in climate control car as temperature is usually changed by driver. In case of non climate control car we make it run on full all the time, that's what causes its failure according to my experience. Maybe Xulfiqar Sir can enlighten us more about this.

Sir, out of thousands in Pakistan 30% cars are facing the same issue. I lost ac compressor in 10th gen and now again 11th. Same sensor crap. Decided to downgrade as can't live with less cooling during summers. It got so bad that it took my car 10kms drive to make me feel that ac is giving some cooling.
Installed sensor type though after failure in 2018, it worked fine till eid ul fitr 2019 and just gave up on a random drive and it never turned on. Well my ac compressor was faulty from day one, dealership used tactics not to replace it under warranty, and when warranty period ended they gave me a bill of 1.5 lakh for new ac compressor and condensor.

Even civic turbo got clutch type compressor so does kia sportage and hyundai tuscon.

You are over heating your ac compressor like this. It will give up one day or another. It trips because of overheating.

for your kind information it does not heated since 2009, it still runs cool with the extreme heated summers and also on highways. i have 2 corollas of same shame one is 2009 and other one 2012 so i cut there sensors in about 2014 they still runs on same compressor without any damage to it and didn't get any AC work since cutting the sensor wires.

As far I know consistent running on full thermostat overheats it and damages internals.

Cut the ecu wires too. Maybe your engine will make more horsepower. Its like saying that you have removed fuel filter from fuel pump but car is running perfectly! Come on man.

My experience is exactly the same.

You guys are discussing local Corolla. Whereas, I was facing same problem in JDM Fielder few years ago. I visited three renowned a/c workshops of the city and all of them gave me the same solution. I was desperate and didn't get into the technical details. Got its sensor based compressor replaced with XLi one (as this Corolla model is known here) along with condenser and the problem was resolved.

In that workshop the technician showed me heaps of discarded local Corolla sensor based compressors. The workshop was overcrowded with customers encountering the same problem and were being provided the same solution.

Same scenario at coolsun temple road. He said I can give you sensor type compressor kaabli in just 5k, but I will not give warranty for it as it will give issue again. He gave 3 months warranty for a clutch type compressor. Replaced a humming bearing of that compressor after a month free of cost. Nothing is better then warranty on a junkyard part.

The "sensor" wala compressor dies because of idiots calling themselves AC mechanics try to fill it with gas just by looking at the pressure manifold they own.

The same compressor is used without issue all over the world including middle east where AC settings are fully locked at max cooling all year long.

They also want to sell you a compressor as it makes them most money - in the olden days - the denso compressor used on the older corollas was also "fail" and the recommendation was to install a new "sanden" for solid wali cooling.

Its a never ending spiral and customers who look for cheap shortcuts enable these crooks to do this.

This is a measurement of quality or something else?

have you seen newer fords? - they have a clutch and a PWM solenoid on their compressors (even 10 year old models) - so by that rationale, its either a gift from some automotive god or has two failure points.

I never re-filled gas in my ac system in 10th gen or 11th gen, maybe it was overfilled from the company.

Didn't know about ac issues in 9th or 7th gen as they didn't produce any issues.
