IMC should issue a recall for all models provided without immobilizer and install one in them for free. Otherwise it would be unfair to the existing owners.

Insurance is still better even with immobiliser. Your 2.0- 2.5 million plus asset is constantly at the risk of accidents, thefts and snatching and with just some 4,000-5,000 rs per month insurance yous losses (God forbids) are covered.

TPL Direct @3% which means 60k for a value of 2 million

Although 3% is the rate i have gotten for all my cars (a few Civics, Prius, Belta, E class) none of them is a Corolla. So considering Corolla is more prone to thefts the rate may be a bit higher for it.

I had EFU for my 9th Gen for five years (2005-2010) imposed by UBL and had just a 2,500 rupees claim.

Then for my Mehran dealer gave me number of Askari General Insurance and I found them very good. Quick, no fuss on claims, replacement of parts, super fast processing and it was covered at 2.7 percent in 2013.

I contacted them again for Altis and bargained very hard and they finally gave me a special rate and I paid 49,000 rs and no tracker.

Had couple of claims as a biker broke the rear tail light. Was done/replaced in half an hour, paid some 8,00 depreciation on light which was for 17,500 rs. Then had another job earlier last month and again quick processing and I paid nothing as depreciation. So they are good.

They come to you on just phone call and renewals are very easy as I just TCS them the cheque and get documents on my desk.

If toyota are simply installing an RF antenna and chip in the key, it takes a grand total of 10 minutes to kill that system. Not to mention the replacemetns for the keys would be sourced from unlicensed footpath key makers in Pakistan because owners of cars want to pay nothing for such items.

If they are offering a smart key then its worthy.

Xulfiqar bhai please tell us more about the immobilisers in Mercs ( for comparision) ; to be just compare with the Mercs of early 2000s.

There is no comparison... Corolla immobilizer is worthless and can be disabled in less than 5 minutes. Search the Corolla forum for the post with detail.

No that's not true, it is a proper immobiliser. Many cars have been brought to workshops which thieves could not steal.

The immobilizer on the PKDM corolla is similar to the ones used all over the world. It uses the Smart "H" key. Those with a immobilizer equipped toyota corolla can check the key for the engraved "H" on the key.

It is just as secure or otherwise as any other toyota that uses a similar immobilizing system
