I searched the forums and went through many threads about the fuel consumption of both the cars claiming that Altis 1.6 has better fuel consumption. Some claiming that both the cars have almost identical fuel consumption,My concern is that which car is better for taxi driving. Especially when it comes to fuel consumption and smooth drive and power.

I also read a term "Altis SE Saloon" what is that?
Se saloon and Altis are different cars. Se saloon was introduced​ back in 2003 I guess. It had a 1.6 engine with automatic transmission and was more luxurious than a GLi of that time. Altis had a 1.8 vvti engine.
For taxi driving, you should get a manual for better petrol consumption. Autos are gas guzzlers. GLi 1.3 manual gives pretty decent average.Otherwise, for autos, Altis 1.6 has better average.
