1 - As a rule, go for predictive/preventive rather than breakdown maintenance. My brother's GLi was with me for a while. With him, it gave 8-9 .. with me, easily 13+.

2 - Keep your filters clean.

3 - Get your throttle body serviced.

4 - Engine tuned.

5 - Oil change no more than 4000 km in one go.

1. Be light on your pedal and keep a check on your instantaneous consumption. When you do that, you'll know after a while how to maximise your fuel efficiency.

This is mass airflow aka maf sensor. Unscrew it and clean it with contact cleaner.

Disagree with your 5th point oil change can’t effect average much but oil grade do. I’m not saying change it on 10k kms but 5000 perfect change interval for mineral oil while synthetic give longer duration of protection and good flow throughout engine. I have been using synthetic blended oil in my car for more than 13 years.

I'm also a Corolla GLI owner and I can relate to the discussion here about fuel consumption. I have a 2014 model and I've been getting an average of 9-10 km/l in the city with AC, and 14-15 km/l on the highway. I think this is pretty much in line with what other people are getting.
There are 2 things I always do to improve fuel economy:
Accelerate smoothly and avoid jackrabbit starts.
Keep your tires properly inflated.

Hi All,

After going through an overall service, my GLI 2019 1.3 Manual shows me this on 5th Gear with a speed between 80-90 KM/H. I also made a recording of the video as proof.
