Corolla GLI 1.6 Automatic 2014 Model AC Tripping Problem

Dear Pakwheelers,

My car's AC works fine in starting then it gets trip for few minutes specially when stuck in traffic. In different speed variation it trips and then it starts chilling. I took it to AC Technician and he told me to change the compressor with the estimated cost of PKR 48,0000. But he will use 1300CC XLI or GLI Compressor.

Please advise, AC Compressor of 1300CC GLI/XLI have same capacity for my GLI 1600CC?
Technician also said to get it replaced with Japanese Cars AC.

I am confused, kindly suggest which car's AC can be bolt to bolt replaced with mine. Thanks

Bro, if the compressor coils are ok, then no need to change it. May be the technician is ripping you of. First get it checked from some reputable technician for:
1) compressor coils
2) gas pressure
3) circuit and wiring.

The price he stated is for a new compressor?

Few months back my AC stopped working completely and upon checking leakage on line found that was repaired and gas charged.

Pressure testing was successful. Now just facing tripping issues.

Tripping issue is not necessarily compressor problem. Other causes may be gas low or high pressure, or capacitor/circuitry.

Get the thermostats wire checked. That might be giving erroneous temp reading to compressor causing it to trip. Is your engine cooling system ok? I have observed that a hotter than normal engine causes frequent trip of AC compressor. Senior PW can shed some light on this theory

I have already faced same issue in my 2016 1.8 corolla altis cvti. No/less cooling on low rpms, traffic signal stops or rush hours jams.
It's a common issue in non climate control corolla because ac runs on max temperature setting for all its life.
Your compressor will give up sooner or later now. Mine was gone on Eid ul fitr 3rd day this year.
It worked like this for like 50000kms at least.
Solution & cost.
The only solution of this is to replace compressor with a clutch compressor. You need to find the best Ac guy in your area. If you're in Lahore you must visit coolsun. They did all this in my car.
1. Fit compressor of 2006 corolla altis or daihatsu terios only. Do not go for 660cc ones at all.
2. Fit new ac condensor.
3. Vacuum all ac lines before filling up gas.
4. Fill either honeybell or linde gas only, and make sure its genuine.

Total cost of everything was 30000rs. Do not install same used compressor again as they are worth nothing in market and have similar issues.

before doining any replacment of compressor please first clean your radiator and ac condensor with good pressure water from inside engine side and outside from the bumper. then feel any difference if you got after this. i hope your issue will be resolve by doing this, my corolla 2010 AC had also the same issue it was resolved by cleaning it with pressure water for long 3 years without doing anything to AC till today. and all corollas have same compressor i things which i most i saw in all models
