Corolla Gli 2010 sudden reduction in pick and increased fuel consumption

I have recently done car wash of my GLI 2010. Before this activity, my ride was giving almost 17-18 avg on long at 100kmh speed. It was also good in city Multan giving 12-14 accordingly.
However, after this car wash, my ride suddenly lost its pick. It require more acxelration to reach certain speed lets say from 60-80 it requires acceleration like from 60-100.
It also increased fuel consumption as avg droped to 14-15 on long at same speed mentioned above. I got clean Plugs throtle and O2 sensor.
But could not got the same health.
Please guide me what exactly has been the damage done to my car?? seniors are requested to participate in this nobel cause

most likely cause is an electrical short due to water, it could be

• a coil
• any of these sensors
  .. MAF
  .. O2
  .. TPS

check air filter housing in case it is taking extra air
a vacuum pipe loose

I wanted to add that i did tunning cleaning of plugs throtle body and MAF O2 sensors cleaning already.

Get your Catalytic converter checked. It may be choked. Same symptoms for my Corolla. Problem resolved after CATCON cleaning.

Bro Catcon introduced in later models. Its gli 2010 and i think catcon is not installed in it.

If a sensor is not working cleaning will not solve issue .. technically check engine light comes up when a sensor goes bad .. but there r incidences when a sensor malfunctions yet engine light doesnt come up ...u specifically mentioned that the significant reduction in pick occurred after a car wash .. so its just putting two and two together .. in other words guess work .. u need a diagnostic check of ur car from a qualified person

in general a weak pick could be due to

• bad plugs
• coils
• O2 sensor
• MAF sensor
• Timing
• TPS
• Fuel pressure
• Air filter
• Vacuum / air leakage

these r all the areas i can think of right now

By the way i just checked by replacing O2 MAF coils and other sensors but problem not solved.

Mechanic told me that catalytic system need to be checked n cleaned along with fuel injectors fuel filter n pump.

How to fix the problem related to engine timing ?? As i will go to mechanic again tomorow. So plz guide me. I will check number of things.

• u said ur car doesnt have CAT . if it does then it doesnt choke after a car wash, it takes time to choke .. it doesnt give delayed pick rather it prohibits or restricts ur speed all together .. can be checked on a diagnostic tool .. a choked CAT has high temp .. i guess CAT works in temp of 1000-1500 degree F, while choked one will be above 2000 F

• choked fuel injectors will induce rough idle .. vibration in idle .. not all injectors choke at once .. usually one of them is the culprit and can be identified by removing connectors (one by one) .. mechanic could have done it there and then .. for a general injector cleaning try using injector cleaner fuel additive

• to rule out fuel pump and fuel filter, try using pressure guage .. pressure should be above 40psi .. most mechanics have this guage

check pcv (pressure control valve) for choke as well

My Corolla 2008 model (NOV delivery) had CATCON installed. So 2010 must also be having it. Mechanic told me 10 different things to check, he said nothing wrong with CATCON. But when I opened CATCON it was fully choked, cleaning it alone resolved the problem.

ATTOCK petrol choked my CATCON. Never went to ATTOCK again, didn’t have problem again. In those days it was 87 octane petrol.

I myself resolved the problem. It was the culprit water in some part or area of any of the sensors. I put my car at 120-130 upto 10 mins of drive. The next morning all was good and perfrmance of fuel n avg again retained.

how did u clean CAT ?

BTW the new fuel with RON 91 or 92 is being imported by attock oils being the prime agency of ogra .. then they distribute it to other companies like shell, pso etc

Nothing being done with CAT. I only put throtle on 120 for few mins
I told u above that it was the culprit water which was causing decrease in fuel economy.
