Corolla gli 2012 a.c doesnt work

When i turn on ac it cools for a while but after few minutes it stops cooling and warm air is blowed if car is idling but when i drive my car it ac works perfectly and it cools very nicely and i have heard many ac problems of corolla gli which were made in 2010 to 2012.
Please give me advise what can i do. I have taken my car to mechanic he said compresser needs to be replaced and told me a big estimate of it.

Brother is typical issue with Corolla (2008-2014, have no experience of models after that), the compressor is sensor based and idea was to reduce engine load by switching compressor intelligently on/off. but this malfunction and mostly owners have to replace compressor with some alteration. Check with some expert A/C mechanic who knows his business. But its going to hurt to your pocket anyway.

Same problem is with City idsi.
Abacus has given a correct explaination.
Best solution is just to remove the above mentioned sensor and make it a direct connection.
That way you will lose fuel average but at least your AC will work even on idle.

After facing ac problem i am having another problem with fuel pump it doesnt work sometimes and doesnt reach atleast 2000 rpm if i floor it but after few moment it gains its rpm and everything works fine. I am planning to change this model shape to new shape which was introduced in 2014 i think on that corolla these problems were solved by toyota. Please guide me whether i should but that one or not

Dear Shayan - Sorry to hear that...You would surprise to know that I myself faced 03 fuel pump failures in 2013 Gli and 2014 XLI, One was on M2 and I have to pay 7K (pump + labor) to those thieves mechanic at rest area. That pump again failed after 02 weeks and I bought complete fuel pump assembly (Kabuli) from Bilal Ganj for 9K, Sold the car after that. That is another common problem with Corolla 2008-2014.

First check if your fuel filter is choked, this is root cause, when filter choke it put load on pump and eventually pump stop working. It shows same symptoms before completely dying out which you are facing now.

I don't have experience with new models so I am not sure if issues are resolved or not, may be someone from Corolla 11th Gen forum would be able to help. Thanks

After knowing problems which are occuring in my corolla i am going to sell it off it has been 11 months since i have purchased this car and found that it was a known fault in corollas which were made in period off 2008-2014. I am dissappointed with efforts toyota is putting in best selling car of pakistan.

Besides from quality of corolla i went to mechanic to change fuel pump and got shocked that it was already replaced twice because previous owner came to him for this problem.

And the total amount he told me to change fuel pump and do some alteration was about 8000. He told me he will replace with new prado fuel pump.

Corolla tenth generation onwards have variable capacity AC compressors to improve fuel consumption and efficient air conditioning. Unlike conventional compressors, these compressors are controlled by a solenoid valve in them which gets signal from AC ECU (AC amplifier) based on readings from numerous sensors. The movement of solenoid valve causes the capacity of the compressors to vary according to the conditions ( cabin temp, outside temp, gas pressure etc). Proper functioning of this system can be checked via computer diagnostics software via OBD port in the car which gives out fault codes(DTCs) as well as readings of different sensors/ devices to arrive at some conclusion. Unfortunately the mechanics here including those of Toyota dealerships are not experts on this and the easiest solution for them is to replace compressor with clutch type old compressor and unnecessary expenditure involved in replacement of other components. i had a similar issue where compressor was turning on and off intermittently and luckily the fault was traced to a loose/ old contacts of solenoid connector which i just cleaned and all was fine. The Toyota motors gave me the estimate of approx Rs 55000 for replacement of compressor and condenser, without even checking from a gauge or computer....
