Hi Pakwheelers,Any experts here who can tell me the name/function of this little part plugged into the engine.
Car is 2011 Toyota Corolla Gli 1.6 Automatic.
Any help would be much appreciated

It is head breather port in tappet cover which is blocked in PKDM Toyota vehicles
It is a camshaft timing oil control valve. Dual VVTi has two of these one for intake camshaft one for exhaust.
in my 1.6 VVTI 2012 i can not find 2nd one aka exhaust side -- that is blocked by default
only 1 as illustrated in figure below is connected
This is a Positive Crankshaft Ventilation valve. Its other end is attached to an intake manifold to the vacuum source to suck in the engine oil vapors when the engine is running. These vapors are drawn into the intake manifold where they are burnt during the combustion process and then released into the air through the tail pipe.
