Corolla gli automatic exhaust manfold

Why toyota have use 4-1 exhaust manifold in automatic car whi is highly not recommended because it compromises low end power. Using in manual transmission is ok but why did they do in auto transmission I think that’s the reason for poor fuel economy of auto 1.3 gli.

Almost every stock car got 4-1. Single flange.
Small in length. Cheap to manufacture.
Not gonna effect that much in mileage.
Gli's Chassis is heavy while displacement is small you can't expect it to be fuel efficient.
