Corolla grande rpm increasing

Hi everyone,
Been facing an issue with my car, The rpm increases to 1200-1300 whenever I take my foot off the accelerator as can be seen in the video link I’m attaching and feels like engine braking whenever I try to coast. I’ve already had the throttle body cleaned and changed the spark plugs ( they were due anyways) my mechanic has asked me to change the throttle body, please guide, any help will be greatly appreciated. https://youtube.com/shorts/0M7ui8gm2lQ?feature=share .

It's normal in this car. Normal behavior of transmission at this speed, even engine braking is normal below 50km/h. Do not fiddle with it.
Your mechanic is screwing you up, and will eventually ask you to change a perfectly running cvt. Take it to dealership if you're not satisfied.

No issue with his car. At this speed this behavior is 100% normal.

Agreed it's a normal behaviour with CVT transmission car it is possible that before it was not braking or the coasting was so much free that after realeaing the throttle at that speed drops the rpm to idle or near it. But things find up their way

Thankyou for your reply, I’m from Karachi so I went to Irshad at Jameel autos, he cleaned the throttle body and changed the spark plugs and then suggested that I have the throttle body changed and we’ll see if that solves the problem. I had the car scanned and it showed rough idling, startability malfunction(battery died sometime ago so ig that’s when it came up), Mass airflow circuit low and intake air temperature circuit high input.

Another issue I’m facing is that when the car is off, the central locking from remote or the driver door controls do not work, also the dome lights and the vanity lights do not work,although the headlights and horn work. everything works normally in accessory mode.

with parts changing hit & try do negotiate labor charges because parts can be sourced from scrapyards subject to performance, however the man-hour required for hit & try is the actual labor charge which may be higher then usual.

Once you change that he will suggest you to change cvt. When he will tell you this then lemme know I will buy cvt from you.

Go to normal oil shop.
Drain, measure quantity and pour back the same.
Do it twice at every 55k kms or 2 years.

Or take it to dealership and ask them that you don't want to open the pan.

For sure​, didn’t go for the throttle body change, got an oil change and now the car drives much better, will get a Cvt oil change this weekend, Thankyou everyone for your help

Drain, measure quantity and pour back the same.

There's nothing wrong with this procedure, but you should keep one critical point in mind.
Before measuring the used CVT fluid, keep it along with the new fluid in the same room for a couple of hours to bring the new & used fluid temperature same. This will ensure your measurements are correct.

I am not sure about Toyota, but Honda's recommendation is to bring the engine temperature high enough that the radiator fan kicks in twice before you drain the CVT fluid. In such a case, it's even more important to bring the used fluid temperature down and match it with the temperature of new fluid.
