[image] Last week car was gone for service and some suspension work. After that 2 liter of caltex coolant was added. After sitting overnight in the morning there was a trail of coolant coming from the engine bay and it was contionously dripping drop by drop. Went to mechanic again. Found out thermostat housing was leaky. Now mechanic says that there should be a groove for the rubber seal to be fit on the engine housing but someone has flattened it and now rubber seal cannot be fitted. So he pa…

I don't get you and google sesrch also revealed nothing about replacing the water jacket. Is water jacket not a part of engine?

This is also called freeze plugs? I don't think these are leaking because it's leaking from thermostat housing

seems there are 2 identical issues running in parallel threads.

if it is leaking from coolant return line you need to remove the housing and snap the picture, zoom & inspect the picture for actual damage

there is likely possibility that your mechanic has removed the theromostat valve or the rubber seal of the valve which is actual seal for the flange.

There is only one leakage from thermostat housing. I cannot get more clearer picture than this. Mechanic says that the rubber seal groove is not there so no rubber seal can be placed.

there is no groove in the block the thermostat rubber seats itself in the hole and the top flange seal it both pictures are of same engine block. locate other picture of your vehicle engine block & thermostat housing over google

Problem is mechanic identifies the issue is with the port on the engine block where thermostat housing attaches. He says that previously it has been repaired and now it is flat. So now only liquid silicone gasket or plastic packing can be used which also is leaking after he did that. Now day after tomorrow I will be going to him again and may get some more clear pictures. As I haven't seen the condition myself, i am only relying on what he said.

Recently suspension work and foundation is repaired after that this problem arises

sir the engine foundation & suspension has no significane or link to the thermostat flange unless your mechanic has some dark desire to con you.

Only drop about half glass in radiator. But before leaving the car for 3 days I top up the radiator. But now also after driving it doesn't drop.

That means that there is a leakage. If a car parked for 3 days, dropped water level, means it's coming out from some place
