My corolla Se saloon 2003 has developed a problem. The car has an odo of 191k. The car runs absolutely fine on CNG but it stalls on petrol as one presses the accelerator. During this one can also feel missing of the vehicle. Over the years the car has lost its pick up on petrol. Moreover, the CEL does not appear on meter. I have checked the fuel supply by disengaging the fuel line. The fuel pressure is OK which rule out the chances of clogged filter or mal-functioing fuel pump. Now I am left with throttle body cleaning which I have inspected and is indeed very dirty. I have scheduled a TB service in this week. If tb service doesn't solve the problem I will be suspecting a clogged injector. I will be updating this forum of my diagnosis.
Your opinions and suggestions for resolving the fault will be highly appreciable

Today I went to famous Mr yaseen, enercon certified mechanic at johar town and asked for TB service. He checked the car on petrol by disengaing cng wiring and said the problem is with fuel pump so he replaced the pump but that did not solve the problem. He called some injector specialist to check. The specialist checked the electric signal to injectors and that was also ok. Then he disconnted one injector at time and checked response of the engine. The disconnection of injectors 3 n 4 caused the engine to die whereas 1 & 2 injector disconnection caused almost no impact on engine. Finally he recommended to change all injectors. The cost of kabli injectors set was 4000 at a nearby shop.
Finally I came back home without replacing injector because the price of injectors did not seemed reasonable. Moreover I wanted to give a try to injectors cleaner fuel treatment.

It sure is injectors' issue as removing the grip of a faulty injector will have no effect on the running condition of engine.

Rate of used injectors is the same as you hv been quoted. You might find a few hundred less in big used parts market but again that much fuel and time will go into it.

SE Saloon injectors have 4 pin holes where as commonly available used ones have around 7 and are known as 'Altis walay'.

I suggest to replace only the faulty ones and enjoy the rest as long as they are running fine. Its end of their life anyways. Depending on the mechanic's charges, its your decision to replace all or only the faulty two at this time. Its a 10-15 minutes DIY to replace all 4 injectors at home.

Thanks tareen. I will try to a get quote from bilal ganj. I have also inquired about ultrasonic cleaning of injectors. There is a workshop in model town lahore which provides this service and they charge 2000 for it. Mean while I will check resistance of injectors to see whether they are having any problem with their solenoid. If they have any problem with their solenoid then its game over for injectors they must have to be replaced otherwise uv cleaning could be considered as an option. Cost of kabli injectors will be deciding factor for whether to replace or to clean the injectors.

You are going the very right way.

As you mentioned, the car running fone on CNG indicates that probably the solenoids being ok and injectors's jets being clogged.

Dear tareen bhai form solenoid I meant solenoid of injectors which allows the passage to fuel to be inject. I feel you had confused it ignition coil. Injectors solenoid are by passed on cng whereas ignition coil provide power to spark plugs.

Hv been thru this so know some bits about it.

U can chk the injectors' solenoids by sparking its points with low amp 12v battery and it will give click click sound.

If you'll fill the small inlet port will fuel, it will spray it from jets on connection.

I have added injector cleaner in the fuel tank. It is German product bought from filter house Lahore at a cost of 650. I will run the car for few days to see the result.
I hope the problem gets solved with this and I save few bucks.

I have drove about 50 km within city and the car is showing signs of improvement. The throttle response is much better now though it is not up to the mark. However, the starting of the car has prolonged a bit.
Also got quote of injectors from bilal ganj it is 2200 for a complete set.
Things are shaping up fine and it has a brought a sigh of relief

Check the maf sensor too. clean it along with an ecu reset might solve your problem as well.

I had petrol problems with my se as well. It was solved this way. Earlier it used to hesitate on acceleration.

hey can anyone help me im having problems woth my 2003 se saloon automatic,whenever i drive it on petrol sometimes it starts missing and even on the longer routes it eventually stops and do not accept the accelerator ive changed its fuel pump but its still having the same issue,on cng it has no problems at all and also the reason of long starting time
