Thank you for everyone’s suggestions thus far great respect for everyone’s opinion.
I’m just trying to decide if I were to stick with a 2NZ-FE what would be a better option. Seems like everyone’s inclined towards a rebuild. However if I upgrade to a 1NZ-FE would it be worthy enough in terms of power and economy.

if you swap the engine, be sure to get the ecu that came WITH the engine.

Our 2nzfe corolla gives local 13 km/l and long @110 km/h 18-20 km/l.

But 1nzfe are available in super dooper new condition.

Yes alot. If you're in any doubts. I can show you the swap which I did in charade and the Acceleration, economy / everything is good... It would be a good upgrade to move to 1nzfe... The engines available are in 2013/14 models variants, they're super dooper clean ones.

I import these engine from junk yards of malaysia and hongkong . After all junk is junk and some times you get lucky to find a good engine among them 99% of them are scrap thats why i dont recomend the swaps to my dearest clients who regularly visits me and prefer the rebuild over swap along with warranties on rebuild too.
If the engine is beyond repairable then i go for the swap and still inspect it by tearing it down and refreshing it up if needed

It doesn't affects resale nowadays... Many swapped Toyotas, Hondas /Suzuki cars go at same price. Even after swap. As I said if he wants 2nzfe again then rebuild is best.... But if he needs 1nzfe. There are many perks of 1nzfe.

And I have a different point of view...
I have the access to the clean and jdm engines and if they're not good I pull them off without hesitation...
And we work out all the possible strategies and then go in for the work...

I also give rebuild warranties. But sometimes in some cases swaps are giving many positive outcomes than rebuild and sometimes swaps have lesser positive outcomes, this is where I choose rebuild.

Like we are rebuilding the fj40 2F engine, whereas swaps are really expensive.. Uz's and vz's are way beyond 300k mark and diesel 2lte and some other are also beyond 200k..
