Our corolla X has done around 280,000km and we've had it for 14 years. An absolute gem of a car. However, the engine is now very weak and consumes approximately 1L of oil every 3000km and fuel average has also dropped significantly. For that, I blame CNG installation which was done for around 3 years from 2010 onwards. I wish to swap the engine for a 1NZ-FE which I've heard has better power and economy as far as this chassis is concerned. I also wish to redo the suspension as strange rattling sounds emerge from it every other month. Mechanic says the steering assembly breaks down and he is swapped it for a kabli one 3 times in the last year. Brakes also loosen after a month or so and I'm tired of going to the mechanic every month.
Should I go for the engine swap to 1.5L or should I just swap it for 1.3L again?
How much will the swap cost and will I need to replace transmission as well?
What should I do for a complete suspension and brake revamp?
