Corvette Suspension has Leaf Springs, How?

@racerf1: in the pic which show the underpinnings, there are no leaf springs. The other pic does show something which is suspiciously like a leaf spring, though it is TOO broad to be a leaf spring. but i cant be sure. what i am sure of is, the other pic (which has two arrows) doesnt show leaf springs anywhere. a leafspring is NEVER bolted to anything. it has to be free moving. it will have shackles at both ends and will be attached to the middle part of the axle (or differential) with U-Connectors (NOT bolted, just held inside U-Connectors).

You're right. But the reason a leafspring is mounted the way it is on a rigid axle is to accomodate axle tramp (see torque). The leaf springs in the above picture are attached to the lower swing arem/control arm with a ball joint. Furthermore, there is usually a bolt in some instances to keep multiple leaf springs firmly together otherwise they'd just slid off when unloaded. If you look at the picture of the leaf spring in the last page, you'll see the how its fixed. Although i do agree the pictures are somewhat ambiguous.

hmmmm. a nut and bolt are used in the middle of the leafsprings to keep them together. U Bolts are used to stop them from moving around on that bolt, which will act like a pivot if nothing is holding the ends of the leafsprings. The pictures are pretty ambiguos cuz they dont show any leafsprings at all. The Control arms are attached to the frame on top and to a girder (on which, the diff would be mounted too, if we could see that far, cuz this isnt a live axle setup) on the bottom. technically, a leaf spring should be between the load and the axles, otherwise they wont offer any resistance. in these pics, i can see only the anti-roll bars. this is tricky, lol. whered u get the pics from racerf1?! post the link, i gotta solve this mystery now!

You are right and wrong. They are attached in the middle and at the end to the control arm. But the bolt you were mentioning is connecting the sway bar to the control arms not the leaf spring. Remember it is composite leaf spring and it would not look like your regular leaf spring found on other vehicles.
As for the website, well they pics come from a varaity of sites all you need to do is make a corvette search. I hope the mystery and the ambiguity are put to rest.

In this pic the leaf spring is shown with the exhausts removed, just to have a better pic.

See if you can point out the leaf spring in this cutout pic where the C6 is turning right and the left side is loaded and jetting out.

no, racerf1. u arent understanding wht i m trying to say. i never said a bolt should connect a sway bar to a leaf spring. forget wht i am trying to say. just look at the previous pics. nowhere can u see a leaf spring! lol. since now we know where it actually is, we can only guess where it would be in the previous pics, but u cant actually see it! THIS is wht i am trying to say!

In the P R E V I O U S pics u cant see a leaf spring. the arrows that u have drawn only point to the girder and the control arms. the actual LEAF SPRING cant be seen. ofcourse i can see it in the new pic, i am not blind! lol. i cant see them in the PREVIOUS pics.

Exactly my feelings with you, coz you are having difficulty figuring out the shape of the leaf spring. In the previous pics it is difficult to see, i agree but once you have located it it should not be that hard to figure it out. In earlier posted pics, you have the double A arms hiding the leaf spring, but with the slight bendings on the spring you will be able to make it out. Just use a bit of your mind, where it might be located, think!

EXACTLY BRO! the A-ARMS are HIDING the leaf springs! i am glad u finally understand what i have been trying to say all along. it cant be seen until it has load on it, thus bending it. in the pics it has no load, so its hidden. it CANT be seen. ( not in the new pics, the PREVIOUS pics).
if u STILL insist it can be seen, kindly point it out again. do NOT point out the place where it SHOULD be, but point out the exact spring. (in the PREVIOUS pic, NOT the new pic. i can see it in the new pic, but cant see it in the precious pic).

Bro, you have to be more precise, that is why I could not make out if your were refering to my earlier posts or just the previous pics. It really got me pissed, after i thought you said you could see it in the pics that I had posted few minutes back. You know that last pic without the exhuast was a tough one to get.

I still say you can see a hint of it in the earlier pics but if you can't, sorry! A bit tired need to go to bed.

Yeah, but the thing is that is not a corvette (if I am not wrong) and that is not composite (difference in design and looks too). Though it does give you the idea where and how it would be mounted.
That is why I had posted this pic in my earlier posts.

No you are not alone. I am following the spring all along. The last pictures show a composite spring and unlike metal conventional spring it is one piece assembly. Made of glass fiber epoxy as mentionad earlier in my post in this forum.

yup Fli! thanks to racerf1s perseverance! He even went to the trouble of having a couple of cars stand on their front ends so we could see the spring! lol. btw, the composite leaf spring (as point out by mics420) has a weird shape. its twisted at the ends. thats a new one on me. not that i have seen everything, but i thought the springs should have a uniform eliptical shape to offer torsion. neways, now since we are all experts on the corvette suspension, lets start talkig abt whether toyotas or hondas are better!!!
