Crankshaft Bolt Removal Tips needed

hi guys, i need a little help from the experts. U see there happens to be a bolt called "the crankshaft bolt" that holds the crankshaft pulley in. and its probably one of the most tightly held bolt in a car (@ ~125Nm!!) So, first of all, i need a semi-professional way to stop the free rotation in the pulley (the professional method being blocking the flywheel first) because right now i'm fairing with a solid steel wrench shoved in the powersteering pulley spokes and its quite much keeping the pulley from rotating freely. Secondly, the crankshaft bolt is toooooooo tight to open, i mean, i've even tried stepping on the wrench but to no luck

A little help will be very much appreciated

Many cars have reverse thread on that bolt learned this by experience on a khyber and fiat

Yes, i'm aware of that fact. But the Service manual provides no special directive for the removal of that bolt so i'm assuming it to be the conventional right-hand screw job?

You need a lot of force to open that and that you can only achieve by putting a long piece of pipe on the handle of your wrench. Make sure the dia of the pipe is just little bit bigger than the handle of the wrench. It will give you more leverage to open it easily. Like a peace of cake:)

For tightening you might need a torque wrench. You do not want to over tighten them later.

i understand what ure saying but something irks me when i ponder over "what if it has a left hand screw thread :-S ?" and yes, i do have a torque wrench on standby.

The engine in question is a 4G18. Anyone familiar with it please hit me a reply!

Junaid sahab is right. Use a long steel pipe to increase the length of the wrench. Borrow it from a mechanic

The thread depends on the direction of rotation. If the pulley rotates counter-clockwise (looking from the front of the car), then chances are that the threads are reversed, or left handed(if that's what it's called).

You can not remove a harmonic balancer without proper tools. Buy the kit, you will save time and money if the balancer breaks :D. You can try removing without the kit, leave the belt on so the pulleys don't move and then try to take the bolt out. The bolt it self is not so tight but most mechanics use thread locker so the bolts don't tend to come out due to vibrations.

yaar, i dont wanna get stuck with a mechanic, this car is on a project and i wanna do it alone..Besides, Many PWheelers are more than just a mechanic, so, why not try them

This engine has clockwise rotation. And using a big rod will help because of the formula force x distance

The bolt is gonna come off anti clockwise (left). If it's hard, heat the bolt with torch and than try to remove it. Thats what I do at my work, just heat up the bolt and ram it out with air gun. Takes 2 seconds.. with hand ummm its hard and going to take a lot of time.
